Poling would probably add versatility, challenge and fun to day "paddles."
I was about to mention that you left that out.

I will still point out though that I've done multi-day trips that were exclusively poling - at least a couple by necessity. If I'm not mistaken, maybe @memaquay has too. IMO, anyone spending much time in a tandem size canoe but choosing not to learn poling is missing out on some quality time.

I'm still guilty of #5, but trying to do better.
