We have two canoes and have decided to sell the Mad RIver Explorer. We bought it in about 1990. All wood is ash (gunnels, portage yoke, and seat frames). Two woven nylon webbing seats. Always stored inside garage in California. Over the years we’ve spent many enjoyable hours camping with dogs, paddling, and fishing. Hoping to find a good home for the canoe so someone else can enjoy it as much as we have. For more information and specs see listing at:

MREnthusiast, welcome to the site. Since your post is offering a canoe for sale, I think it better fits in our Classifieds forum, so I'm moving it there.

That's an excellent price for a Royalex Explorer in good condition, though you really should show a picture of the bottom too.

A Royalex Explorer was my first canoe, which I bought in San Jose in 1980. I paddled whitewater with it on Sierra and coastal mountain rivers in the early 1980s, and distinctly recall paddling with a fellow who lived in Placerville, which I assume is close to your location.

Thanks for moving the post into the appropriate forum. We had a sailboat we bought when we lived in the San Jose area, but when we moved to Placerville in the Sierra foothills in the mid-80s, we switched over to a the Explorer. This led to many great adventures through several generations of trucks and dogs. And thanks for the tip about adding a picture of the bottom.
