Hey y'all!

I am thrilled to find this forum after spending 45 years going on various paddling adventures.

Although I no longer am canoeing due to health limitations, I really enjoy reading your stories about trips and experiences.

Some of my favorite destinations were BWCA (honeymoon trip), Nantahala river, Current and Jack's Fork rivers, Sugar Creek IN and my beloved Salt Fork here in East Central IL.

If either Dana Grover or Charlie Wilson post here, would enjoy hearing from you ... you know us as John and Gail from Coldwater Canoe trip days!!

Canoeing has provided a way for us to appreciate and care about our natural world, and I look forward to sharing that love with many of you.

Gail, welcome to site membership! Feel free to ask any questions and to post messages, photos and videos, and to start threads, in our many forums. Please read Welcome to CanoeTripping and Site Rules! Also, because canoeing is a geographic sport, please add your location to the Account Details page in your profile, which will cause it to show under your avatar as a clickable map link. Many of the site's technical features are explained in Features: Help and How-To Running Thread. We look forward to your participation in our canoe community.

Charlie Wilson used to post here frequently until 2021, but unfortunately he's currently recovering in Florida from a stroke about two years ago. We don't have a member with the screen name Dana Grover, but since almost everyone uses pseudonyms, one can't know for sure. Contacts can be made between members using our direct message (DM) system, which will also generate an email to the recipient.

Welcome. Do you have trip reports or pictures from any or all of those rivers. I’d love to see them.

Thank you Glenn for the update. Several years ago I had heard that Charlie was living in upstate NY. Dana owned the canoe shop near Champaign IL where hubby and I bought our solo canoes. He and Charlie were close friends 35 years ago... the only info I've found is that he and Charlie were involved in an ACA "group" promoting freestyle canoeing about 20-25 years ago.

Dana organized trips down local rivers for my group of "Prairie Paddlers." Last I knew from a mutual friend is that he moved out west to live off grid in the Rockies.

Thank you Erica and Gamma. I'll have to go through my non-digital photo collection ... and memories ... to see what I can find.

Welcome to the group. Nice to have a few more midwestern folks on this site which seems to have a heavy eastern US membership.

Thank you, jdeerfoot. Happy to have found y'all! I am enjoying all the diverse posts, but especially the wilderness trip reports.
