Grail of Bail (bailing scoop)

, check out these bailers from the New Zealand Maritime Museum in Auckland.
I really like those, will have to think about a larger version.

Lots of my paddling includes large lakes or southern rivers with steep overgrown banks where it is just easier to get back in. I practiced self-rescue and concluded that it is not possible to re-enter the canoe without bailing it some first. I don't have confidence I could shake, toss, or otherwise empty my tandems without a bailing scoop.

The bailing scoop is now part of my kit. I always carry my life jacket, paddle, and a medium dry bag backpack. The dry bag has the normal canoe crash kit, and has the bailing scoop clipped to it.

For now I think I'll have one of the kids paint some trees and flowers on the baling scoop.

I have a small 1 liter jug similar to the bleach containers, but TBH I have never used it. The ShamWow I lay on the bilge at the seat is all I have ever needed
