We went for a sunrise paddle at the state park. Water was calm and pretty nasty upstream, less so in the bay. Discovered a new possible put in.

The new boat is roomy. I’d like to try paddling sans mutt to get a better feel for it. My bent shaft paddle seemed short due to the width difference. Gonna try a straight shaft wood paddle that felt long in the Magic. She really flew with the double blade. Can’t wait to try her fully loaded.

Kiah had lots of room and seemed more comfortable. She’s not a good swimmer, but loves to splash in water in shallows. She was a little concerned but it was a positive experience for both of us.

One thing about the integrated handles is I was unsure how to attach lines to the front of my car. Are those hand loop holes secure enough to tie to the car? I always looped around the handles and over the hull. The actual hand loop line seems too light to tie to. This boat won’t get lining holes since the flotation bulkhead is very shallow.

I am thinking of putting stainless steel marine eye straps on the bow and stern. Mount them with stainless steel screws to the E6 carbon end decks.

I have a Northstar solo and didn't like using the grab loops with the car tie-down lines or using the deck as a hand hold so I installed an ash handle at each end. I like the contoured handles they sell at Hemlock Canoes.
