Fall Shenandoah Valley paddling suggestions

There's a group of us who meet in the Ozarks every Fall for a week of paddling, typically in mid-September. It's always worked out great because the rivers are spring fed so the water levels are always fine. One of group has gone on the road full time in an RV and will be out East this Fall and is asking if we can meet up in the Shenandoah Valley instead. The rest of us are open to it but we want to avoid hours of driving to end up where the rivers either don't have enough water or are dangerously high. What's the river situation in that area in the Fall? Is it reasonably safe to assume decent water levels? Any river suggestions? This group typically finds a campground and does day trips.
