I pulled this photo from the Hemlock/Curtis Canoe group on Facebook because I thought it was beautiful. It is described as: "Diamond Woven Grid of Bent Ash with Spruce Stringers & Dacron."

His compression processed hardwood allows him, or his customers, to hand bend the wood cold into extreme radii: "Use Compressed Wood for Extreme Wood Bending™ to a radius of curvature as small as 5 times the thickness of the plank without steam, without heat, without backing straps and without springback." The process is described here:
