Black Cherry Phoenix

Oh that is just gorgeous!!! I almost got my IXP Phoenix in red glass over Kevlar, but decided I’d better go with IXP. I’d have gone with that color (and cherry!) if I knew it was possible.

Great pair BTW, my Polaris is Blacklight/aluminum gunwales. I often regret not getting wood, but the aluminum will certainly be easier to maintain. I’ve got it set up with 3 seats, me in the middle and kids at each end. It’s actually fantastic as a solo, much more comfortable to kneel in and heel that the Phoenix for me. The Phoenix seat is fixin’ to get lowered and that back back looks like a great idea.

On second review of this thread, those cherry rails were such a good move - they complete the look of the boat way better than something light like ash would have. Well played, ABT!

Thanks! In light of the revival of this thread and speaking of “completing the look of the boat”, I’ll add some more recent photos. I felt like the white decals didn’t quite suit the rest of the look so I replaced them with new ones in gold. Even though I didn’t mind it much, I also was not super crazy about the large, relatively plain looking “Northstar canoes” decal on the sides so I went with a smaller version they used to put on the bow of their boats. Some people will probably like the higher contrast of the white but I like to think the gold adds a little more elegance. I’ve also since re-laced it for float bags for a little extra safety on large open water or if I get to run some class II in it this year.

Looks great. I plan to just take the midships stickers off both of mine; especially on the Polaris I brush it with my hand frequently and don’t like that.
