I broke my primary paddle in last trip and now had to make new one.

I really like ottertail shaped paddle.
I have read that bent shaft adds efficiency.

So, why no one makes bent ottertails? All bents seem to be these wide and short style...

Also, is there point at making double bent paddle?

Traditionally shaped straight shaft Ottertail paddles have no preferred power face to the blade. This makes them ideal for performing a variety of strokes, such as the box or Indian, in which the blade is rotated one half turn during the stroke, changing the power face to the back face each time. You can't do that with a bent shaft paddle. Bent shafts are most efficient for performing strong fast power strokes with a constant power face, which is why racers use them almost exclusively. You can do a limited number of other strokes with bents, in which the power face stays the same throughout, including the J, pitch,C, draws, and bow rudder. A freestyle paddler would never use a bent due to its constant power face restriction.
