I'm having trouble getting a video together for this trip (time wise anyway) so I'll throw out some fotos and a brief rundown of the trip.

We started on Rain lk. by the time we got on the water it was afternoon but we didn't have super far to go so we weren't concerned. Stopped on the big island for lunch then moved on, portaged to Swayer Lk. then on to Jubilee. Had our pick of sites on Jubilee and found a really nice one, turn out the only drawback was how insanely loud the bull frogs were all night long! Spent two nights on Jubilee then headed back to Rain. Lunched at rain then portaged to Hot, the beginning of that portage is nearly vertical but the rest isn't bad. Hot is a quick paddle then into Islet. Islet is a lovely lake and we found a nice spot with a sandy beach and a nice spacious site. Spent two night there then back the way we came into Rain. We had scoped out a nice site on Rain when we stopped for lunch the other day but it was occupied so off we went in search of another hammock friendly site. Ended up at one that would do, wasn't perfect but wasn't bad, actually except for hang-ability it was a nice site. One night at this site and a short paddle back to the car the next morning with no portages. Packed up dry the last morning and started raining as we put the canoe on top of the car... can't complain about that. All in all, it was a nice relaxing trip.

Nice to hear you had a good trip. Fantastic pictures that really capture the scenery of Algonquin's West side. Good thing you got your trip in before the fire ban.

Thanks Robin. I do enjoy playing with the reflector oven, I enjoy it even more when giant chocolate chip cookies come out of it. :D
Love the chair, its and REI something or other, and its quite comfortable and its a bit taller than my old chair so a bit easier on the entry/exit.

Thank you Murat V, I was a bit worried there might be a ban but luckily they had gotten some rain just before we got there which reduced the danger.
I like cooking on a fire way more than a stove when I'm in the back country.

Niiice trip. I lived my first 20 years in Southern On and never made it to Algonquin. Maybe some day. Pics like this are getting me jonesing for it...lol.

You're totally missing out, you gotta come back and give it a try.

Nice eye for the landscape shots, a couple more and you'd have a great calendar.

Thank you Sweeper, I lug around a lot of camera gear, but I do enjoy taking pictures.

Thanks for the jog down memory lane! Rain was the beginning of my first solo trip in 1996. My first solo campsite was on Moccasin on the side of a hill! Continued on down Petawawa River and White Trout returning by Shippagew Tim River and Queer and Ralph Bice

I didn't cook anything interesting! It was a memorable trip I forgot till I got to Bice that I had not booked off work.. I was due at four pm..that day.. I ran the ports inbetween Bice and Rain and drove at high speed to Kearney to call in sick by 3:55
I could never do that now. I was 50 then.. not now!
