I was getting ready to make some reservations to go canoe camping in the Okefenokee Swamp when an old paddling buddy got in touch and asked if I was interested on spending a couple of days on the Suwannee River. Looking at the USGS river gauge I saw that the flow rate at Fargo GA was around 550 C.F.P.S. (which was more than our last two river trips combined). Several texts back and forth and what started out as a 3 day trip quickly turned into a 5 day trip.
Day 1
We met at the American Canoe Adventures www.aca1.com in White Springs, FL at 5:30 pm for our shuttle service ($100 for the two of us to go from White Springs, FL to Fargo, Ga). After loading up/driving/unloading and packing boats we finally got on the Suwannee River around 7:30 pm. Plan was to paddle about 10 miles and find a campsite. We were supposed to have an hour and a half till dark with a full moon and almost a 3 MPH current.

As with most plans this one quickly changed with less than an hour of daylight and could hardly see 100 feet because the rain clouds were blocking the moon. At least we didn

Big Shoals was running frothy. Noted the boat cart.

I would love to read the rest of your trip report. If you edit out all of the apostrophes (and quotation marks) after didn and post as an edit it should appear in full.

nice pics, the health food looked as though it was prepared to perfection too. Looking forward to the rest of the report...

I need to get back on the Suwannee!
I especially like your photo of the night tree lit up.

Here's a picture I took on the Suwannee a few months ago in the early morning.

That looks like a good destination, I'd like to see more.

Yes please, I too want to read the full trip report, which I expect is already written.

We have had some wonderful campers on the Suwannee, hosted by a local paddling club who knew every nook and cranny, every landowner and private road/gate (to which they had keys or combos). Same for the Sante Fe (Naked Ed knew them all by name on sight) and along the Ich. Private take out and shuttle vehicle parking on the Ichtucknee, scweet!

They were an older crew, with a lot of years of experience. Laid back, kinda drinkers and smokers with a paddling problem, but dang they had their local crap together.
