Mad River Kevlar canoe interior colors?

Well, I’ve got the golden yellow for sure but someone before me did some awful patching and tried Loosely to match what I don’t know, but the patch went down the side and on to the bottom- and it’s a god awful yellow!

Mad River Kevlar canoe interior colors?

Alrighty then, this may be a tad strange and off the wall but I need to repaint the interior of my Kevlar courier. Yeah I know that I can use color that I want- but what’s the fun in that. And besides, the colors that the bottom “diamond” and sides are- are pleasant! So before I spend countless...

Poll: Tobacco & nicotine, and canoe stories about use

Well - I started with cheap cigars back on college (late 60s) cause they were just that- cheap! But over the years the one thing that I learned was that better cigars -and I mean that not all “better “cigars are good but the majority are! And after all life is short as they say…But these days I...

Grommets for grab loops on a MR Kevlar courier

Hey, thanks for the measurements. I am just finishing up with the gunnels and decks. Anyways, here are two pictures of my project. I won’t show the hull cause that’s a project all by itself! Wish me luck…

Grommets for grab loops on a MR Kevlar courier

Halpc, my is a ‘90 model- no where near pristin! But definitely a project canoe. So that being said, with no gunnels to check locations of thwarts or seat I’m sort of using my royalex courier for locations- which also I had to wing that as well. If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, could you...

Grommets for grab loops on a MR Kevlar courier

I am redoing a Mad River Courier- Kevlar and need replacement grommets for the front and back grab loops. I don’t seem to see them or just not sure what to get or where. Would appreciate any input anybody might have. The canoe has 2 of the 4 semi intact and looks like 1/2” or possibly9/16” holes...

Poll: How much is your spouse or SO interested in canoeing compared to you?

What? To be honest - she knows that there are canoes laying about- has no interest in even sitting in it on dry land. She likes it when I go though cause the house is hers- go more!

MR explorer 15 and MR courier- are they the same?

I have a Courier ( supposedly) that has no ID that I can find and seems to be about the same specs as the MR explorer 15 - both royalex. Anyone have any ideas on the differences? I think at some time the end caps were replaced and possibly the vinyl gunnels as well. At best, I just would like...

    Mad River model question

Thanks for your responses, I’ll go with the slipper. Now- I am thinking that the slipper is probably meant for a smaller paddler, but I am 6’ and give or take 195 lbs depending on the day- Is that too much for one? I drive a Guide that’s roughly the same with no problems, but would love...

    Mad River model question

I saw this old ad for this canoe and am wondering if anyone know what model it might be. The 14’-6” makes me think it’s a Guide but I thought that Kevlar models were longer- plus it seems narrower. Any ideas cause I like it! Thanks

Pulling in my gunnels on my MR Guide

As far as I know, the seat and thwarts were original. At least they seem like it when I got it- but then no telling how many had it before me! I just made new cherry thwarts and a new seat and pulled it in to 30” and now have they itch to go more. I do share your desire to try different widths...

Pulling in my gunnels on my MR Guide

Hi, I want to pull the gunnels in on my Mad River Guide which are wide at around 32”. What I’d like to hear is how far is the it possible to go before I screw up? I read that the specs are 29” so I should be able to get to there, however….what’s the limit? Thanks for your feedback

    Introducing me

I’d like to take a moment and introduce myself to you all. Started in a canoe as a baby up in the Adirondacks lakes every summer with my family. Seems Grumman’s were the weapon of choice for my dad and always strapped on top of a ’49 Chevy back in the early 50s. Attended NYS Conservation camp at...

Hanging or storing a canoe off floor in a garage with vehicles

This is the new- not quite finished home for our toys. The canoes have been under the front porch for awhile, but we needed the space for more firewood. The upper canoes are all hung with kayak hoists. Just need a little siding and the toys will be happy- me- I need some warm weather and water!
