Hi folks. On your canoe trips do you take a thick pad like the megamat expad makes or more of a back packing type pad? Trying to get practical info on actual use in the woods. Thanks
Hi All. I’ve never been on a multi day canoe trip but am interested in doing so. Anyone have a recommendation for a guided 3-4day trip in the Adirondack? I have no gear and suppose a guided trip can provide gear and instruction and accelerate the learning curve. Thanks
Hi folks, As indicated looking for a new tandem for just day trips, about 340# paddler weight and a cooler with lunch/drinks, and the occasional fishing gear. These 2 are on the radar, the Wenonah Escape, because we already have a Minn 2 that my wife loves but is Tuff weave model and trying to...
Hi Folks,
For those of you that cut your own strips from planks do you use a special blade on the table saw - ie. thin kerf - to minimize wood loss? It seems you might lose a significant percentage of wood from the blade width.
Thanks for your insight, I really don't have space for a build but...
Hi All,
I have an old 1979 Malecite fiberglass which had a gray interior color. It got very hot in the sun and I painted over it with tan garage floor paint.
I am updating some wood trim to bring it back to original look and wondering how I could remove that tan paint and get back to the...
Excellent condition. Tuf- Weave. Always stored indoors and 303 coated. Used only on lakes/flatwater. This boat has seen little use. $2400. Currently, these are $3799 new.
Found these old paddles at a yard sale. there is a plastic label near the grip but the writing is worn off. Anyone know who made them? The blade is 24" and overall length 54". Short for me but the price was right - 2 for nothing (actually cost a cup of fancy coffee).
Thanks.
with a hemlock peregrine? If so what length paddle do you like? I'm in the market for 2 new paddles - wood single blade and double blade - these are to go with my ZRE for variety sake.
thanks
220 cm Excellent condition. Used less than 10 times in flat water/lakes only. Too short for my current application. $235. Would prefer pickup but please PM to discuss possible shipping and costs.
Hi All,
Looking for a wood paddle to use with my solo canoe. I have no experience with different blade and handle shapes having only ever use an old town beavertail, a ZRE bent and an old "Camp" wood bent.
Curious as to your experience and preferences for a straight shaft wood paddle.
BTW for...
As indicated in the adjacent thread I stupidly left an Old Town beavertail paddle at the launch. I was distracted trying to get my new boat on the car and drove off without it.
If anyone found it or knows of someone that found it I'd appreciate the opportunity to get it back.
Thanks.
Hi Folks,
Can anyone who has both the ZRE and GRB carbon paddles tell me about their grip size? The standard oval type grip on the bent paddles. Is one smaller than the other or about the same.
Thanks
Hi All,
I have an option of slotted gunwales on the Peregrine canoe and wanted to see what you all use them for. I have seen flotation tied in thru these but I will not be using float bags. I have never had them and can only think what a chore it would be to have to treat all those slots a...
Hello, I am a new member here but have been searching the forum for solo canoe info. I am ready to order a Hemlock Peregrine but the NS NW solo and Magic are in the running. I was interested in hearing folks experience with these boats. I am 5'9 ish 185 and plan to use it for lake cruising...
