    Clint and Verlen video

About 4 years ago when I finished the rout of the Kruger Waddell challenge I was surprised to meet Clint Waddell and his wife. His wife had done many far north canoe trips with Clint and describes one of them. I enjoyed talking to them. Anyone wanting to do this rout should check out the...

How to waterproof this ditch bag

How to water proof leather gloves I have only done this method one time and only tested under the faucet but I think this is going to be my preferred way of treating my gloves. There have been several threads on how to seal a tarp and I had some leftover sealer. What you will need: Leather...

    Water proofing gloves.

Up date I have used the silicone treated gloves on several canoe trips totaling 32 days. I used the gloves and loaned than out to others so they got a good workout. They were in the water about ½ of the days to handle fish. They were used to process fire wood many times. Some of the outer layers...

Adirondack 90 Mile canoe race canceled

If you are looking for an alternative to the 90 miler the BWCA is open now for back country camping so I do not think the Minnesota events will be canceled. http://www.watertribe.com/Default.aspx I did the Voyageurs last year and am signed up for the Kruger this year.

    Water proofing gloves.

Mike McCrea Thanks for the Arial tip. Try coleman or other camp fuel. It is a little cheaper and after a few hours there is no smell.

    Water proofing gloves.

I like your mixing method! I use a jar with a lid so I can shake it to help mix it also. I have never used odorless only low odor mineral spirits. Is it really odorless? Can you smell anything after a couple of hours?

    Water proofing gloves.

Well I will see how they perform this summer. From the inside the glove feels the same and not stiff. Never tried the Montana pitch blend. I have tried other leather treatments that did not last when the gloves got water on the outside. I may take a backup pare along just in case you are correct...

    Water proofing gloves.

I read on one of the canoeing bulletin boards about how to handle northern. Someone replied back “ I lip them” well that got my attention. He described waterproofing leather gloves and then using them to handle fish. I still would not lip a northern even with leather gloves on but I do ware...

    Overhead Canoe Storage

I made this about 30 years ago and I now have 3 canoes on it. I would not make a winch again. I would buy one of the light weight one. It is nice to flip a switch and run the canoes up or down. P1010019 by magicpaddler, on Flickr If I were doing it again I would use one of there...

    Coffee

Last summer I participated in the Voyagers Challenge which was for me a 240 mile unsupported race. I did not bring anything to cook with. I need some caffeine some times in the morning to get rid of a small headache. I prepared each morning’s nourishment and packed it is a ziplock bag. It...
