    New 1997 OT Appalachian

Here it is after 3 hours of detailing. The original owners were using this river runner as a lake boat so there it little wear on the hull. I have no experience with the Appalachian so I’d appreciate some input on what to expect using it solo and tandem.

Just did the St. John two weeks ago. With cold weather, wind and rain it was a challenge.

    Nova Craft Painter Eyes

For serious lining I use a lining bridle. My question is: for light lining or for an anchor point would you trust using these painter eyes?

    Kelty Mirada Tarp Shelter

Just bought this and started doing some experimentation. Not designed to have the front closed but by adding an extra guy line you can partially close the front if desired. I paid just a little over $100 so I call it a "poor mans CCS Lean Shelter".

    Big Canoes

Who else is in favor of large canoe for tandem tripping? I find that they provide not only space but a sense of security on large lakes and rivers. Here are some photos of my new Nova Craft 18' Prospector in the tuff stuff lay up.

    DownEast magazine Allagash Feature

I had the pleasure of being a part of this trip. The feature does a great job of capturing the Spirit of the Allagash.

Has anybody tried these for canoeing? They seem to be popular is Alaska and other cold wet places. Any luck with fitting them under the seat when kneeling?

    Long traditional Ottertail paddles

http://www.barkcanoe.com/accessories.htm Is anybody familiar with these paddles from the Bark Canoe Store. They look pretty nice and the price is very good. They look very similar to the paddles offered by Dri Ki woodworking but are offered in much longer lengths than listed on the Dri KI...

    Bonaventure; solo or tandem?

Looking to do the Bonaventure this Spring for the first time. For those that have done it in the past is it best to do it solo or tandem? Any experience with CIME and the canoes provided and their guiding service. Thanks

17' OT Tripper vs. 17 Prospector

I might have a chance to buy a 17" Tripper. Is the Tripper based on the Prospector design? Does anybody know how much rocker the Tripper has; It's always listed with some rocker but never any exact detail as to how much? Nova Craft list their Trippers as having 2.5' rocker. Any input would be...

    Canoe Lining Bridle

Has anybody else used this system for lining. I use a section of rope attached to my painter line with a prusik knot. When you need to line just attach the bridle and then slide the knot to the bottom of the canoe. This can be carefully done even while the canoe is loaded and in the water.

    Ultimate Tripper

I recently enjoyed doing the Allagash in early May immediately after ice out. Our Registered Maine Guide let me use his Old Town Tripper XL. Weighing in at over 100 lbs, 20 ft. long and 41 inches wide it was the biggest canoe I ever paddled. Sad to see that Old Town dosen't make this canoe...
