Local info on routes from Oroville-Osoyoos Border Crossing to Bowron Lakes?

That's the route I would take but as to the road, I would guess it is as good as all the others in that area. I am only familiar with roads after Merritt and they are fine.

Local info on routes from Oroville-Osoyoos Border Crossing to Bowron Lakes?

Google usually does a good job. The BC highways are good but after leaving Osoyoos, if you head north toward Kelowna, you'll hit more traffic. The drive is well worth what is in store for you at the end!

    Boating Lights

I can see that in that case it might be used from shore but how does it apply to a solo flat water canoest? I am open to learning, not arguing.

    Boating Lights

I've run into the Canada 50' throw line requirement when canoeing in BC. As a solo canoer I don't see myself ever using a line to help someone by throwing them a line. Seems like a good recipe for ending up in the water with them.

    Life jacket suggestions

I was wearing a Mustang Survival Airforce model PFD three weeks ago and had to use it when I got blown over on a lake outing. The pfd is about 27 years old and the light even works. It has been treated gently all those years and all the fabric is like new. Found a reload kit on ebay and...

Damaged Sea Clipper - Repair or Replace?

Call Western Canoe and Kayak in Abbotsford BC the manufacturers of Clipper. They could look at the photos and tell you what if anything would be worth doing. Too bad you aren't closer to them. 604-853-9320

    Getting in and Getting out

I watched a youtube video showing a method of enterring a solo canoe by just facing backwards to the canoe gunnel, holding it sitting down and the bringing the legs in. It works if you can stand in knee deep water.

What are your current solo canoes and how do you like them?

Well now I have another solo canoe. I saw an ad for a Wenonah Wee Lassie and it comes in at anoter 10# weight savings over my Clipper Packer. Been great for quick day paddles and the Packer will do the longer trips.

    Solo Wee Lassie

I was surprised that the single bent canoe paddle felt the best since I've always paddled on a higher sitting position in my canoes. After watching videos of kayak paddling the Wee Lassie I expected it to be easier and may a tad faster speed wise but that didn't happen for me. I'm planning on do...

    Solo Wee Lassie

    Solo Wee Lassie

I picked up my used Wee Lassie last Friday and finally had some weather today that would allow me to paddle it. I will say that I was pleasently surprised at how well it tracked, decent speed and of course the light weight for handling ashore. Took a kayak paddle to see how I'd like that and...

Poll: What is Your Opinion of Tilley Hats

I've owned my Tilley hat for probably over 25 years. Still in pretty good shape but when I canoe on warm days I'm likely to wear a lighter nylon vented hat. No complaints in regards to Tilley.

Poll: How Many Canoes and Kayaks Have you Owned?

    Which Canoe For Summer Solo?

Steve, sorry for the late reply. Both boats are comfortable, but the Solitude is faster if that makes any difference. Room was plenty adequate for everything I needed in the Packer for eleven days.

    Solo Wee Lassie

I'm considering buying a used Wenonah Wee Lassie to go with my Clipper Packer for shorter paddles locally. Any thoughts on the performance of this canoe? At first the idea of sitting on the bottom seemed uncomfortable, but then I remembered that I spent several years paddling a sea kayak.

Your first canoeing or canoe trip memories

After I retired I started kayaking. I also duck hunted but didn't have a boat so I bought an inexpensive plastic canoe to use and fell in love with, canoes. Sold the canoe and got a Clipper Solitude and went through different models of that until now I have a Clipper Packer ultralight to do...

    Ramp for Car Topping

I load my solo clipper onto my pick-up canopy using a small carpet with a non-slide bottom laid on the rear of canopy. Canoe slides right onto the rack.

    Help with a canoe cart

I put my cart in the middle of the canoe and then balance it on the cart by moving my bags and other items around. Otherwise you end up having to lift the bow or push down on it to do the portage. If the cart doesn't remain in place, the need to lift or push results.
