I dunno if this fits, but here's an image that will help get me through the winter. . . 😁

    Perfect Trim?

Depends on the water and wind. I've moved into the bow, sat solo in the stern, knelt in the middle, whatever made the boat do what I wanted with as little wasted effort as possible. I generally find that close to level level is a nice compromise for 99% of conditions. But I am inexperienced and...

    Same river, different experience.

5 Days Alone in the Heart of Temagami

REALLY dumb question: What is Temagami? I see parks all around the area, but looking at trip reports, it seems like we are generally discussing the entire municipal area. Is that correct?

Good video, sir! Thanks for sharing!

    Grayl Geopress Water Filter Anyone?

I have two. Don't use them in tannin-stained water, or water with any sort of turbidity. They filter exceptionally well, and and meet the end of their service life exceptionally fast. For any water in any condition, I ponied up in cost and weight to an MSR Guardian. Might be an option for you...

Alan's Bloodvein II Canoe Strip Build

Great job man. The thing looks even better than it did earlier this summer! Alan's design and your execution have made for a great canoe.

It is indeed the Paddlesports version. Good to hear that an accomplished veteran finds it useful. It kicked my butt this morning.

Received and installed a new addition to the pain cave. Takes about 90 seconds to install or remove. I am fortunate to have a great relationship with the gym owner, so I wont even have to transport it. HR monitor also showed up today, so feeling almost professional... 😄 The test run was a wake...

    New Northstar solo coming soon

Yes, it is available in IXP. At least, I know of one dealer (Happy Paddlin') who has one on order. It also has the double asterisks on the price sheet indicating that it is also available in Blacklite HD. Which is what I am betting will be the most popular layup for this boat.

New Savage River Solo Coming Soon

Lol, my heart dropped when I saw the title of this thread. I literally just placed an order for a new solo this week and that seems to be how things go. Fortunately, this is a hull type in which I have no current interest. 😄

What's the draw of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area if other well-known Paddling Areas are closer (or the same distance)?

Crowded is a relative spectrum, and the BWCA has pieces that are all over that spectrum. The PMAs are almost untraveled. The big entry lakes may have 30+ groups on them. The layout of entry points that makes the area so easy to access make it, well, easy to access. Find an area that takes at...

What's the draw of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area if other well-known Paddling Areas are closer (or the same distance)?

More civilization and more people. Not a belittlement, but what it is, more developed portages, pit toilets, fire grates, steady traffic, and thousands of works of incredibly granular data for trip planning. And a lot of cell service. FWIW, a lot of videos I see out of Algonquin look similar to...

    Post your training paddles

This is good info to have. I have been running into a similar problem and believed it was some form issue causing the imbalanced fatigue. While my form is definitely a work in progress, I am glad to hear that there might just be some muscle adaptation happening alongside.

Yessir, that is one of the three reasons I bought the erg. The MR340 can be a big mind game, and I want to be as mentally resilient as possible coming out of hard water season.

    Post your training paddles

Great thread idea, Alan. I have just started training for the 2027 MR340. Depending on how that goes, I may become more involved in canoe racing. Looking forward to seeing some info! Do workouts on a paddle erg count? I have one on order to train through the winter.
