    DIY Cagoule Pattern/Design Discussion

Thanks Al, but I’m not sure I want a waxed canvas. I’m leaning more towards a coated nylon at the moment, similar to my old orange one. Jim

    Purcell Trench Grills

I read the description you linked and thought who wants an expendable grill, I’d prefer a grill that lasts a long time. Now I see it is expandable. Jim

    DIY Cagoule Pattern/Design Discussion

I found this a week or so ago at a used book store in the sewing section for $2. Lots of pics and good sewing instructions. Now to find some nice fabric. Jim

Old Town Tripper -- New Old Stock

Where in Maine are you, in general. We definitely need more info on the boat with pictures, how long is it? Jim

    What are you reading?

I’m a bit more than half way through The Gales Of November, about the sinking of the Edmond Fitzgerald and what it was like to be in the shipping business on the Great Lakes. Jim

Commercial tarp poles: How many? Which ones?

I’ve used the single long pole the most, as it gives plenty of headroom. High enough to cook under. I’m baking some sort of desert most likely. So the point of the pole doesn’t poke through the tarp I made a little disc to spread the load. The pole has other uses too, I made this hook thing to...

Commercial tarp poles: How many? Which ones?

I have three poles that I bought from CCS. Two of the shorter ones and one of the taller. That seems to work for me. They were not inexpensive but I liked the infinitely adjustable last section for fine tuning the height. Jim

    Ronco Pocket Fisherman

I’m not a fisherman but the Tenkara rods are intriguing, compact and simple. I don’t have a good website to share but there is a lot of info on the web. Jim

    Obsolete Stuff

If the ruling pen is obsolete (I still use one on occasion) then these pens are really obsolete. The single nib one is for drawing contour lines on a map and the double nib ones are for drawing roads and railroad tracks. The handles all swivel so the nibs can swivel. I’ve used the contour pen...

    Obsolete Stuff

I found out too late about this set that was offered at a local auction. Even though it was quite a bit of money I still feel bad I didn’t know about it. I would have bid at least a couple of times. Jim

    Got it up there

Just throwing out an idea. Anybody remember that tv show Eureka? In season 3 episode 9 there were mysterious gravity wells that kept plaguing the town making things really heavy. Perhaps that is what is going on. Jim

    DIY Cagoule Pattern/Design Discussion

So here is my old no longer waterproof cagoule. The sleeves are one piece across the shoulder. Drawstring at the hem, front pocket, Velcro cuff adjustment, gusset at the neck. The sleeve and hood area are lined with light breathable fabric, not that it would make that much difference being...

Where did you find that 6 1/2 oz cloth? I dug out my old cagoule a few minutes ago and will get pics tomorrow. It was sold by EMS and comes about mid calf. Jim

    DIY Cagoule Pattern/Design Discussion

Welcome to the campfire Panhandle. I used to live in the panhandle of Idaho but now reside in Maine. Glad to have another sewer on board. I’ve been looking for a good anorak pattern for winter, not that I need three anoraks but I might make one just like I like. I have an old cagoule that is no...
