I would never put anything but good potable water in mine. To clean simply rinse with a little bleach and water to sanitized, then rinse out well with clear water. Never had any problems.

I have always been a fan and carried a large, covered metal canteen until it started to leak. It was easy to carry and to me water seems to taste better out of a metal container. The military type canteens are good for hunting or day trips but seem too small for camp. I really don't know why...

Boatman53, The guide you show is much more reliable for a true cut than the dowel centers. I would certainly recommend the guide over the dowel centers with the guide giving better results. The guide helps prevent the unsteady hand from moving where the dowel centers only mark the center and...

I believe Chip has the right answer, simply clamp the two members together and dill them at the same time. Dowel points like the ones in the pictures are designed to be used with a brad point drill bit.. Trying to drill by hand, machine bits has a tendency to "walk" or wonder just a little bit

To me one of the best parts of a trip is either a good farmers breakfast of bacon or ham, eggs , toast and cowboy coffee, or a truck stop breakfast of eggs, bacon, and cheese omelet, and a cup of good cowboy coffee. That's living ! With a breakfast like this I can run all day

Recently I received information that the DEC Ranger station at Cedar River Flow has burned down. They do not know the reason yet but information points toward mice crewing cables. What a shame I've know that station since I was staying there since 1984.
