It’s never good, but rarely bad. Occasionally werewolves happen.

Hopefully I’ll be able to fix up my Peterborough and spend as much time on my local waters as possible.

    Can you define these wetlands?

After 20 some years as a wetlands biologist, I’ve paddled or walked on and in many different wetlands. As mentioned above local names, map names, and even differences in terminology use or focus between cooperating entities can make them all a bit soft around the edges.

I miss paddling with my dog. My German Shorthair was basically another Canoe Sport employee back in the good old days and would love to ride along or swim as I paddled. He had some skill at getting in and out of a floating canoe.

Fly rod and Rod tube winter project

Yea, I’ve seen a few swoops at them, that’s the first that made contact. Fortunately my casting is so poor they probably couldn’t predict the motion to make contact more often.

    Throwback Thursday Photos

Nice. I worked out of Tionesta on a river project around 2002 to 2004. Hadn’t heard or really thought about it much in quite a few years. Thanks for helping boot up some memories.

Fly rod and Rod tube winter project

Well I was casting and caught it on a back cast, but it was caught right around the upper arm. So it was a snag. ☹️ Oddly, I rarely catch much on the back cast. Except for alders, and willows, and… there really isn’t much free time left for the animal kingdom.

Fly rod and Rod tube winter project

Hopefully there will be more flys and more trout! I’ve never caught a butterfly on a fly rod. I did catch a bat once, and was able to let it go.

    Evolution of an Alaskan DipShip

Ouch. That looks harsh. You could use a Teflon bottomed sled, or wheels, or something if it could be made strongly enough and light enough to be worth it.

That dark blue looks nice. Are you concerned about it getting hot on the way to the water, or did I spend too much time in Florida?
