I think you need to change more than your gear. You'll need to change how you run rapids, by doing back ferries and going slower than the current and avoiding the big stuff. I think that when you make not flipping your highest priority that you won't flip, at least with your skills.

I would say that I respect white water and not fear it. I didn't attempt anything over C1 until I took a WW course. Now I only fear pinning my boat, getting beat up swimming a long rocky rapid or drowning.

I'd like to upgrade my equipment to something like that. When I went digital I went to point and shoots, always intending to get a real camera with a good lens again. Is that the only lens you need when out in the boat for wildlife shots.

Nice boat. Looking at the seat placement I don't think you will have any problems paddling from the stern seat. Paddling from the bow seat backwards will create a lot of yaw, being that it is 35" wide there. I also don't think it will take much weight to get to a trim that works.

Well, being someone that deals with pain in most of my recreational pursuits, I'd say doing whatever hurts the least should be the priority. As far as my low back goes, having my feet under the seat works best for me.
