    Field sharpening

I don’t remember seeing a thread about keeping your tools sharp while on a trip so I’ll start here. I don’t believe I ever brought an actual sharpening stone on any trips. The knife and axe are well tuned up before I start. If I do bring something along it’s one of these. The knife has a three...

    Mora knives for camp.

Glenn that is a wonderful fireplace for using a reflector oven. Jim I too have a couple Mora knives and maybe four Buck pocket knives. I used to have a Buck sheath knife that I bought in the ‘70’s but it was stolen out of my shed about 15 years ago. Jim

What shipping charges for a canoe paddle have you paid recently (and what carrier)?

Two years ago I sent a straight wooden (sassafras) paddle to Idaho and it was around $70 through UPS. I just thought UPS would be better than USPS but maybe that was a mistake now looking at these prices upthread. Jim

Cedar Strip Basket Case: Advice Sought

Nice job on the repair. Do you have all the guideboat hardware for the oars? The oars are not guideboat oars but if you have the rest of the oar lock set (4 sockets and 2 oar brackets for lack of a better term) that hardware alone is worth about $500 last I checked. That and proper oars if you...
