Interesting. Do you have any idea how old she is now?

The Upper Gauley River in 2019 with disaster at the undercut and retentive Room of Doom at Pillow Rock Rapid. Also a very dangerous rock crack run (intentional or unintentionally desperational?) above Sweet's Falls, through which only a very narrow canoe could fit without getting permanently stuck.

    2025 Canadian Wildfires

Here's the map for those of us who aren't familiar with it: https://cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/interactive-map The map seems to show the vast majority of fires are from western Ontario to the Pacific Ocean and far up into the Northwest Territories and Yukon. Why would the eastern half of Canada...

    2025 Canadian Wildfires

I read that this possibly has been the worst wildfire season in recorded Canadian history. https://globalnews.ca/news/11324707/canadas-2025-wildfire-season-now-second-worst-on-record-fuelled-by-prairies-blazes/ The smoke is polluting the air in Canada and in many states in the U.S., including...

An afternoon on Candlewood Lake, Connecticut

Yes, there are two public boat launch ramps on the lake. Other launch spots are the six "town parks," which are only available to town residents who have bought a season pass. But the season pass is only required from Memorial to Labor Day. After that, launching is available from the town parks...

An afternoon on Candlewood Lake, Connecticut

It's water. A lot of it. It's canoeable. I can't be too picky about nature immersion in the populated state we live in. The north end of the lake from the Sherman Town Park to the New Milford Town Park, or vice versa, would probably be a nice full day trip on a non-windy day.

That sounds very doable, but watch your six. Here's Huki Jude surfing a boat wake on what is probably the Sacramento River, and it looks as though he's flying the ama, too.

These could be the first member still images from a drone posted on the site, or at least in this thread. I believe we've had some drone footage in member trip videos. Just curious, Steve, how high a tide was that and have you tried both rudders?

Best looking va'a in the East, if I may say so. Who's operating the drone?

Article: Review of New T-Formex Esquif Ocoee

". . . the Ocoee has been a new solo canoe six times before—originally by Dagger for the 1993 World Rodeo Championships, Bell Canoe, Nova Craft Canoe, then in composite by Northstar Canoes, Empty Canoes and Echo Paddles. "As soon as Esquif Canoes founder and head designer Jacques Chassé began...

An afternoon on Candlewood Lake, Connecticut

After resolving the Mystery of Rotated Images on this site, I went for quick paddle on nearby Candlewood Lake, which is the largest lake within 60 miles of New York City. It has variety. Launch from a beach that has other residents' canoes stacked up. A few summer homes have the usual...

ZRE (and GRB Canoes) have changed ownership and moved

The Newman brothers in Canton now retain only their paddle making business. They sold the GRB canoe making business earlier this year to Max Eaton in Wilmington, NY, which is within the Adirondack Park. Here is the new GRBmax website: https://www.grbmax.com/
