    Hornbeck Guideboat?

Here is another pic. I do love that little boat. And it is not heavy. I think Hornbeck made this one in the 70’s maybe. When I was there two years ago buying a canoe I tried to get them to give me an idea of age but they couldn’t. There are no hull numbers on the boat to go by either so it has...

    Final curing of epoxy boats

I built a cedar strip Adirondack Guideboat using West System epoxy for an older customer and that boat literally sat on saw horses on the shore of the lake in full sun from May to September. Every year I would sand it and give it a fresh coat of varnish. That was its life for twenty years and it...

    Campfire Pizza

Yup I’ve made them a couple times, mostly when my adult children join me. They ate it up but it was a bannock crust made first (that’s easy and no yeast waiting to rise) then add the toppings. Jim

Hudson's Bay Company shuts down after 355 years

The company ended a far cry from what it used to be. Sad. Jim

    Throwback Thursday Photos

Having second thoughts on the last pic being in the ADK’s . Here are some more but with a post card from Maine. The pic with the fish has what looks like a Rangeley Lake boat tied to the dock. Looks like a nice campsite with the fly and kitchen setup. And the postcard. With a 1958...

    Throwback Thursday Photos

I found this one going through old family photos. I’m not sure exactly who the people are but I am sure I’m related to at least one of them. Location is also unknown but possibly the ADK’s as we have other photos from there. Jim

    Loud wooden pole

Or you could cut some slightly oversized disc of a closed cell foam say 2” thick, oversized so it will stay where you put it. Then push three or four down the tube at various intervals, say dividing it into 1/4’s or ideally midway between the vibration nodes. It would only add a few ounces and...

    What are you reading?

I just finished ‘The Shetland Bus’ by David Howarth. It is about the Norwegian resistance during WW2. I wish things like this were taught in history class, I might have paid more attention to. Before that it was a Maine centric murder mystery called ‘Everyone Knows But You’ by Thomas Ricks. Jim

Finding and remotely locking a lost smart phone

Glad you found your phone Glen. It is amazing how much stuff is stored on those dang things. I had a phone slip out of my pocket and right into salt water, it was at the dock and I could see it but it was too deep. I came back a couple hours later at low tide to pull it out with a net. The darn...

    Foraged Wall Hooks

If you bring the axe down quickly near the middle of the phone that should work. Or take the axe and head out to where there is no signal, that would work too. Jim
