You might be able to make an oversize hole in the kevlar and epoxy a bushing into it. A piece of PVC tubing might work, if it has the right inside diameter. Then you just make the hole so the outside diameter is a snug fit and glue it in. The challenge might be holding onto the tubing, since...

I once took a broken cedar strip canoe to a guy in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, who ran a shop where people would rent space and build boats. Does anyone here know if that shop is still open? All this talk about building boats makes me want to hang around there and maybe help out.

I once had the same problem in the kennel, where two dogs slept year-round. The solution was to drill holes in the raised floor so the moisture had somewhere to go. No more damp blankets.
