Everyone takes a knife with them, right ?

I'm always curious what people pick for a knife, if they do, and why. Growing up I was in the BoyScouts, earned my Eagle. That's always been part of what drives me to the outdoors. I learned how to sharpen a knife in the cubscouts and my "Totin' chip" card is something I remember pretty vividly...

I've had good results from the guys who use them. They're just simply knives, 1095 that's Molyresin coated with micarta handles. Sheath retention is a big issue with me for knives (and handguns), that's why I don't make sheaths. I have a few kydex guys I trust and two for leather,

There are a few other allows that are very good in corrosive environments. "Talonite" (Stellite 6BH) work very well, and Ocean Master makes a few dive knives and even a folder from "Beta Titanium". Personally I've had good luck using a baked on coating called Molyresin on high carbon, non...

Returning to the canoe after decades

I took this with my 6D a few years ago with a $250, 14mm f/2.8 Rokinon manual focus lens. Like I said it's a great camera for shooting at night.

Everyone takes a knife with them, right ?

funny you say that. in 09' I was on my way back to the airport from a convention in Orlando. I was returning my rental car, reached into my pocket and found a loaded 1911 magazine.. Detroit metro never saw it. Needless to say I dumped the ammo and put the mag in my checked luggage.

Knives are a personal thing for a lot of people and for some seem to hold quite a bit of emotional attachment, for whatever reason.

Lets see what you take with you into the back country, or on a trip out for the weekend. Knives are just tools, because we don't have sharp claws :)

Returning to the canoe after decades

This is my travel box. I replaced my 6D last year with a bigger camera for faster fps. I loved my 6D though, great for taking night photos. The extra body is a 5Ds R I have a 14mm f/2.8 100-400mm 1.4x converter 24-105mm gear stays in the box until the paddeling stops.
