    Do Canadians Paddle in America?

I have not paddled any water in the States personally.

    Canoe form value

I might be inclined to pay @ 500 if they were within a day or two drive. Other than that I could just make my own by lofting an original canoe. It would be neat to have one though if you were building. Not a lot of us left doing that though.

The Compleat Guide to Modern Bear Deterrence

The Critter Gitter looks promising...I have seen similar setups with 12 ga bangers. Maybe LED lights and some bangers that are command detonated. A trail cam would be usefull in knowing the threat If all else fails a suicide bomber vest. It wont protect you, but at least you get the last word.

    Different Times

Being retired, I am nicely postioned to ride this whole thing out with no worries as to income. Or anything else really. The visits are done for a few months but I have Facebook and other platforms to keep me connected and a boat load of projects around here to keep me busy. I hope not to lose...

    Sounds Crazy

Like Alan I place little to no value on cars. I have had some that I liked and some not but the most I have ever paid was 5k and it is usually half that. They are transportation. I like the current fleet and should get another 5 years out of them.

Anyone paddle a Chestnut cruiser ( Kruger)

I have not used a 16 foot chestnut....have a Pete Champlain in the rack that is the same thing but it needs love. I have been using a 15 foot Bastien that was a really nice solo. I usually drop the seats down 4-6 inches until they feel comfy. If you can find a 15 foot Huron ( Bastien, Faber...

    Controlling Shop Dust?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WnitgYFnE0 I made one of these this week and it works great...lots more room than the single bucket ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGn.....I also made this cart to go on top of the shopvac. no more clogged filters. They both work great.

    Hello from Saskatchewan

Hi from MB. Lots of good water up your way if you think outside the box a little.

    Canoe seats

We have taken to building our seat frames from laminate also...I agree that they are stonger and lighter than a single piece of stock. No issues with breaking at weak spots and you can play around with different contours etc. I have been using plain old cordura strapping, but then again, they...

    Strip Built Costs?

I would guess that the cost is closer to 1000. We kept track closely on the first one and the little things like seats, drops, screws for the gunwales ( stainless) brushes, rollers thinner, sanding discs, chiropractor appts all tend to be more than you remember.....if I could build a half...

    Maskwa getaway

That is the Maskwa river Brad. You could get water there but it was easier to just bring a 5 gal jug. And no to the fishing,we have tried there in the summer and its pretty lean. It was mostly chill time.

    Maskwa getaway

Yes it is. We are pretty lucky when it comes down to it living where we do. I like to think it is more of a conscious choice ...why else would anyone move to Winnipeg...to be here as opposed to the great industrialised south. We ARE the stuff of other peoples dreams.

    Build or buy?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJPmhu4ZezM I have been considering one of these for using thinner strips.

    Build or buy?

That white cedar is still rough cut ...they should have planed and jointered it first. The router will destroy those edges. And I prefer red cedar as the white is quite toxic to work with once you start producing airborne dust in large amounts. Karin cant even be around it any more. The cost is...

    Maskwa getaway

Haha....that was both of us laying in the snow resting...we are old eh. Robin, it was mucho cold and I was not happy with the idea of a stove flaring inside....I think I would try it though next time now that we are a bit more organised. And yes it is a really nice setup...more like glamping...

    Maskwa getaway

So my favourite enabler and I went hot tenting this week. I found a place that rents out hot tents complete with stove and wood and bunks with mattresses. This one is Gramma approved times two. It is only two hours from home but a world away. Quiet, remote, and a lovely place to get away. You...

    Build or buy?

Hmmm, the whole 40 pound thing is going to get in the way a lot. I could get you an as new Clipper Packer 14 footer for $1200 but it comes in at 52 lbs. Maybe you should look at a Swift Keewaydin 15....suuuuuuuuper nice canoe. Just a reminder that Gramma is still lugging a 50 plus pound canoe...
