Big storm reported for you folks back East!!!

I'm in Huntington, NY and we only received around a foot of snow. There's still some fine stuff blowing around outside but I don't think anything is falling from the sky. I didn't even hear any big wind last night. So in summary - it was a Nor'Easter - not some super duper 2-3 feet of snow...

    Swift Shearwater

Sorry BC, I've never had my pooch in any of my recent canoes. He's 90#s and hyper. I wouldn't want him in a canoe with me unless I wanted to go swimming.

    Crooked knife making

Nice work, guys. I've never used a crooked knife. I'm not a big carver - it's probably one of those "I don't know what I am missing" things.

Big storm reported for you folks back East!!!

I have my bread, eggs and milk. I also was allowed to leave work early today and was told not to come in tomorrow. Now I just have to eat, sleep, shovel some snow and try out my new snowshoes. I can handle that.

    Journaling on your trip.

I do. I've learned that keeping a journal or log really helps me in many, many ways. The written words on the page help my memories flourish. They also help me to learn from my mistakes. I have logs for a few different activities - I enjoy going back through them.

Thanks for the link, Memaquay. It's nice to have a reason to purchase another gun.

    Swift Shearwater

If it's onCraigslist I saw that Shearwater - good looking canoe. If you can wait for spring I'm sure we can arrange a test paddle in my Keewaydin 15 if you would like.

Bunny hunting, snow shoeing and bang sticks

You'll love that Tikka. I have a T3 Lite in yup, you guessed it - .30-06. Gun is very accurate. The only bad thing is the magazines are very expensive - don't lose it. Does that folding .410 have a composite stock? I don't recall seeing one in the states.

    planning idea's

You can canoe & camp along the Delaware in the Water Gap. I used Adventure Sports in Marshall's Creek PA for a shuttle. No complaints with them. I didn't camp, just a 14 mile day trip with my Sweetheart. I'm sure Adventure Sports has more info: 398 Seven Bridge Road, East...

    Lash tab PFD “rescue” knifes

I've never had any trouble with it. The sheath has a firm "snap-in" hold on the knife. I should also mention that Izulas come without scales - I bought them from an online knife supplier that I don't recall at the moment - and added them. You can see the hardware they provided isn't the most...

    Mad River Monarch

Coldfeet, If you keep making too many holes in that Monarch I'm going to have to suspend your power tool privileges. I'm glad that back band will work well for you.

    How many knives?

I think I "win" although I'm not sure it's something to be proud of. On/in my PFD, an ESEE Izula 2.6" fixed blade and a Leatherman Wave Multitool On my belt I have a 4" fixed blade Koster Bushcraft in a dangler sheath. In a pocket I keep a "Farmer" Swiss Army Knife. I also brought a Bob...
