    Canoe trailer

I set it up to haul 4. I figured at least 3 feet, but unless I extend the tong the long canoes will have to be off center. Hopefully this will not be a problem.

    Canoe trailer

Building a canoe trailer from an old Jon boat trailer for a friend. It will be pulled by a 15 passenger van. Any idea on how far from the tongue the canoe needs to be so it won't hit the van when turning? Right now an 18.5 foot canoe is only about 2 feet behind the hitch.

Removing old epoxy for a gunwale replacement - worth it?

    A lightweight "stand-up-able" solo canoe?

Just out of curiousity how much does foxotter weigh? I owned the Northwind solo in the above pic and would not have dreamed of standing in it at 5' 11" and 200 pounds. I can't imagine doing that in a Trillium.

    A lightweight "stand-up-able" solo canoe?

A true center seat solo no, not that I am aware of. I use a Bell morningstar converted to a solo. I moved the stern seat forward and installed an extra wide one so I could comfortably heal the canoe if desired. I paddle standing or casting from this position quite often. It is the perfect solo...

    NorthStar Canoes

Starlight or blacklight? Bought a B16 in Blcaklight and it is my favorite layup.

    NorthStar Canoes

Unloaded with two adults it is a stable and good fishing platform, but not as enjoyable as a 17 footer. That is not a very eloquent description, but is accurate. I have taken my 10 year old daughter out in it on lakes and handled it just fine, but it really shines when loaded. If it were...

    NorthStar Canoes

I own one. Great seaworthy canoe. Have taken the third seat out for long tandem trips and worked great. It is currently my Family tripping canoe. What do you want to know about it?

    BWCA, May 2020

Great to see young people going to the BWCA, especially with someone to show them the ropes. Great pics, how do you like the True North Maps? Was in from the 18th to the 24th and only saw two other canoes the whole time!

Why Your Next Canoe Trip Should Be Solo

Thank you for acknowledging this. There is a world of difference from being truly solo and having a dog for companionship and to alert you of anything going on.

    BWCA Open!?

Forest Service spokeswoman was very vague. I really don't understand how they can be so far behind. They should have had a plan for the Governor extended the order, and a plan if he let the order expire.

Leather or Kydex Sheath for Canoeing Fixed Blade Knife?

Weird. It comes up when inline when I view the thread. I have my pistol strapped to my thigh, but I don't find it necessary with the knife. Not heavy enough to bother me, plus I can manipulate it into more positions while canoeing. Hope you find your solution.

Leather or Kydex Sheath for Canoeing Fixed Blade Knife?

Glen, If you add a knife sheath dangler attachment, whatever the angle, the sheath stays up. If you were to do a hand stand, the sheath would flop upside down and the handle would be pointing up, no worries.

Leather or Kydex Sheath for Canoeing Fixed Blade Knife?

Glen, If it is a leather dangler sheath like LT Wright uses it is highly unlikely it will ever "fall" out. I have tripped with a GNS for four week long trips, bushwacking and falling included, without a hint of the knife coming loose. I condition my leather sheaths, but they have certainly...

    Titanium leader

I'm not the greatest fisherman by any means. I have noticed that switching to a florocarbon leader has increased my walleye and bass success greatly. Northern don't seem to mind steel leaders, but from my experience it affects my Walleye success greatly. I also have not lost a Northern on a...

    What's Inside a Float Tank?

You can always e-mail Northstar, but they have closed cell foam, so there is no worries with drilling into it.

    Wildlife Hatchet

I apologize. I kept referring to the Outdoor Axe as the Wildlife hatchet. I sold my Wildlife hatchet 2 months after I bought it. It weighed more and did not split half as good as the Outdoor axe. With so many axes out there I can't always keep them straight. I edited my posts above with the...
