Rocky Lake (Rocky Lake Public Reserved Land)

Thanks Goonstroke! I had searched for the island campsite marked in the Maine Gazeteer but didn’t locate it. So I camped on the mainland on the Eastern side of the lake about 1 mile from the put in at Mud Landing. Rocky Lake Public Reserve brochure does not show the island campsite and to the...

Rocky Lake (Rocky Lake Public Reserved Land)

I tried to be as quiet as possible in this video but posting the video basically is shouting it out to world.

Moose River Bow Trip (Backwards), Maine, September 2020

"Although the campsite itself was modest, it had an outstanding thunderbox, a one hole double. The top panels (one with a seat and one without) were held in place by gravity only -- apparently you're supposed to switch sides when the pile gets a little high? Maybe this was an NFCT upgrade. In...

Rocky Lake (Rocky Lake Public Reserved Land)

Couldn't resist the weather this past weekend to head out on another and most likely last canoe trip of the season. I received the greenlight from the wife to head out on a late season middle of November Canoe trip to the Rocky Lake Public Reserve Lands. Day time temperatures mingled in the mid...

Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area Canoe Loop

This seems to be the case for most including myself. However it got me to thinking....maybe our timing is just really that bad...lol!!

Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area Canoe Loop

Thanks Glenn...appreciate that. I think I need to learn exactly what camera gear was used by Brasenia because some of those time lapses were just breathtaking. I just want you to know that I haven't always been as foolish as I was the day I lost my sunglasses. Typically I always have them...

Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area Canoe Loop

Your video production was exceptional. Very informative and the sights were absolutely stunning and beautiful which is customary with that region. Low water in Northern Maine was clearly depicted by the “Chute” being so dry! I thoroughly enjoyed this video and your voice overs and video...

Jo-Mary Lakes, Maine - October 2020 Solo Trip Report

I wanted to explore the water levels at Lower Jo-Mary as well since I have not forgotten Bob Mills mentioning this potential run or portage, however, as you know Pemadumcook is rather large and winds seem to have a mind of their own making a crossing from the Northern end of the lake to the...

Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area Canoe Loop

Bob Mills also shared this potential trip by connecting the Jo-Mary’s but I have yet to explore that option. Parking has always concerned me with the Turkey Tail put-in but clearly after reading your trip report there appears to be ample space. I hope to explore this route.

    Roy's Mystery Wood Canoe

Congratulations Roybrew! Very exciting to see the canoe hull wetted. I am sure you had no issues with stability regardless of the boat wake. The Wabnaki by design is incredibly stable as I am sure you can now attest. Beautiful work Roybrew! The canoe looks great.....well done! Enjoy it to...

    Roy's Mystery Wood Canoe

I have more than a couple (probably a dozen) of light spots shining through on my canoe. One thing I know for sure is that the canoe has not sunk yet. This is an area I would like to improve on during my next build but just like memaquay and Al said it is all aesthetic. Don't worry about the...

Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area Loop, Part 2

Thanks Goonstroke! I always try my best to pronounce the lakes I paddle the best we can, but to be honest I am not sure I ever get it right. I was corrected one time at a checkpoint by the gatekeeper on a particular name of a lake (wish I could remember which one), but there was an immediate...

Thrilled to hear that Al! I try different things and try to learn as I go. Truly appreciate your kind words and honest opinion. Did you plan a Fall trip in Maine yet?

Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area Loop, Part 2

Part 2 of my journey started with a windy departure from the Third Debsconeag high bluff campsite across the lake in 15-20 mph wind conditions. Had to make a decision to leave since the weather report provided by my Garmin Inreach Explorer indicated stronger winds for this particular day and...

    Misplaced Shop "Things"

Haha...just bought two new tape measures. Had some work to do in the garage and three tape measures nearly hit me in the face. When things like this happen I always tell myself that now is the time to get organized and stay organized. Pretty sure I will continue to buy unnecessary tools!!!!
