    Shockwave vs NS Magic

Have paddled both. magic may turn a bit better as hull design allows it to be be heeled further than shockwave with more confidence; however it is not built for turning as much as covering miles like…the shock. as with any straight keeled hull, heel away from the direction of the turn in both...

Pricing on a used Solo Merlin II or Hemlock Peregrine

Had a Solitude decades ago and I doubt you will like it after a ride in that Spitfire. Analogy: it will be like driving a pickup truck after driving a Ferrari. If you like the Spitfire but want something longer try a Rapidfire. Will be interested to hear your impressions/comparisons of the...

    Help identifying Wenonah Adirondack

Any canoe should be landed parallel to the shore and stepped out of before contacting ground. So no matter the material, yes, you can land on gravel shores if you do it properly. It’s called a wet foot exit. A pic might help ID the material. Good luck!

    Swift canoes demo day

ONLY way to dissuade charging for demo days (ridiculous practice) is for the public to refuse to attend. I certainly would.

    Anyone paddle a Wenonah Egret?

Didn’t mean to rain on your parade if you are truly interested in the Egret, I loved mine but just never viewed it as a traveler. That video of Mike and Marilu shows the boat used to it’s original purpose and it just doesn’t seem to fit your original description of what you want to do. Agree...

    Anyone paddle a Wenonah Egret?

Not really the boat for your intended usage. Designed by Mike Galt as a small sport tandem. Wide. Continuous flare. Slow. Nice for short day paddles, birdwatching, etc but not for covering distance or carrying a load. https://wenonah.com/Retired/Egret.aspx OK for tandem FreeStyle play (there are...

    Swift Wildfire and Dragonfly

That amount of added weight will make no difference in stability…especially the cherry trim as it is at the top of the hull. Aesthetics is a personal choice. Time spent paddling will achieve the desired comfort level. Old axiom….The lighter the hull the more often it will get used. To me...

    Swift Wildfire and Dragonfly

Own Wild, paddled Dragon….Wild is what I call quick— fast acceleration. Dragon may be a bit faster when driven to and kept at hull speed, just depends on how long you want to paddle at that pace. At 250# I still find Wild fast enough, very playful and responsive. It would be my choice in your...

School me on sit/hit-and-switch in a short solo

Not in attendance for years now. CEW would no doubt explain the “inside circle” to teach uncorrected forward stroke but thought that too tough with words as it is difficult enough for most of us in person!😉 I am a kneeler so I paddle 99.9% on one side of the boat in flatwater, with the primary...
