    Not a Canoe, but Cool!

I wonder what the weird truck leaf spring thing at the stern is for.

    Winter pants

My favorite pair of wool pants have never been washed in 20 years. Don't tell my wife.

    Red's Tremblay

I dig the tractor style seat lol. I've still got my mint tremblay, it's a great canoe, I don't use it enough.

Year-end overnight camping trip on the Pawcatuck River in RI

Looks like a lot of fun! You are very lucky to still have liquid water this time of year.

    A Raven from Scratch

Wow, I just scrolled through that facebook site Jim, best 20 minutes of my life recently. I real admire the sense of community that enables this kind of project to exist, it is something sorely lacking in most places in Canada. All those pictures of little kids creating with scraps, and being...

Charity paddles- what length do you think?

Yup 60 inches is a good generic length.

    A Raven from Scratch

I've run into that problem before...you probably don't want to do this, but I just glassed a couple of long pieces in by the gunwales with an overlap. Once sanded, it was hardly noticeable.

Double blade paddle . . . worth it?

I've got a Werner Journey straight shaft canoe paddle that I use all the time. It's great, only problem is it makes my wooden paddles feel like clubs.

    Winter pants

Not the fancy Leprachaun pants though, these ones. https://www.bigbill.com/us_en/wool-outdoor-pant-214

    Winter pants

Once you go wool, you never go back. I know it might be insensitive to ask on a public forum, but what us your waist size? If you fall within the skinny side, you could get a late Christmas present in the mail.

    Winter pants

Just remembered, I got a skinny pair I've never worn, 32 inch waist, probably fit a svelte fella like you.

My 5th "Final Canoe": A Swift Carbon Fusion Keewaydin 15, at 80

Oddly enough, my dodgy heart can still handle 40 to 50 pound canoes no problem. It's my traitorous back that would really enjoy a sub 30 pound canoe. Gonna message my buddy, see if he's still got it.

My 5th "Final Canoe": A Swift Carbon Fusion Keewaydin 15, at 80

I might have a chance to buy the same canoe for around 3 g's Canadian. Did you paddle it yet? Interested in how it performs.

Double blade paddle . . . worth it?

Dang it, I thought I had invented that move! It's a little more difficult in the 20 foot canoe, usually involves some contortions before the paddle will reach.

Double blade paddle . . . worth it?

Maybe so, but in their beat up Grumman and dirty old keds sneakers and cut off jeans, with the accompanying once white armless beater shirt, they will probably still be out paddling the posers with their fleece paddle socks. That's been my experience many times lol.

Double blade paddle . . . worth it?

Tweaker will use anything, but paddle with a super fast stroke rate. Pothead will use anything, but paddle at a super slow stroke rate. Drinking enthusiasts, such as myself, single stick only, with great panache, but often falls out of the canoe while draining the excess alcohol out of their...

New Swift Tandem - Lavieille 17-6

When we ran Grumman 17 foot whitewater canoes with the school club, we routinely had three people in a canoe...However, we made sure they were light weights, and the 3rd person usually sat low on some canvas packs, more of a passenger than a paddler. I Stretched out a J. Winters Quetico from...

    Winter Solstice Poling Cruise

I've always wanted to try poling but never got around to it, looks like a lot of fun. Watching those pictures makes me wonder if anyone is going to grab one of those stand up paddle board paddles and paddle a canoe mostly standing up.
