    Sanborn Paddle Quality

Hmmm.. I have 2 ultralights from Sanborn a Gunflint and a Sam Special. Some nicks from use now but to be honest I don’t really see the issues raised. Some of my favourite paddles.

    Paddle wrapping

Ya.. It’s not that complicated for me. The leather feels good. Gives me a nice grip.

    Paddle wrapping

Yep no issues. I treat with Sno Seal.

    Paddle wrapping

Not really your question but tennis racket leather grips are easy to find and apply.

    Clamp on rod holder/fish finder

I just added this to all my canoes. https://scotty.com/product/440-1-inch-track-adaptor/ And https://scotty.com/product/340-track-adaptor-copy-copy-2/ I don’t mount a gps, camera, fish finder etc. just the rod holder. Sure they sell holders for all those things though.

    Clamp on rod holder/fish finder

Decided a while ago that Scotty mounts were the way to go.

    Astral Rassler 2.0

They are a high cut shoe so they do provide some support but I wouldn’t say ankle support is a key feature of the shoe.

    Astral Rassler 2.0

I own them. Very grippy. Drain well. They run small. I had to size up. You could go up 1 full size imo.

Who sleeps on the the newer light cots?

I own a helinox ultralight cot. Bought it for my then 80 yr old father to sleep on for a spring fishing trip. For a very comfy cot it packs down quite small. I will bring on trips with no or very little portaging. Put a sleeping pad on top of it and it is extremely comfortable.

School me on carbon Fibre paddles

Me too. Solo it’s 2 paddles GRB six degree and I’m sold on the Werner Carbon Camano adjustable 240-260.

One other option to consider. I also own a Sanborn ultralight Gunflint bent shaft. It’s a mix of wood and carbon. Mine is about 15 ozs I think. looks like you can get the same paddle in a straight shaft now too. https://sanborncanoe.com/gunflint/#p...ab-information

School me on carbon Fibre paddles

Me ! Far left in my pic above. Got it at the beginning of last year. Was my solo single blade last year. I really like it. 10 oz or there abouts I think. GRBs are cheaper than ZRE but comparable quality IMO.

School me on carbon Fibre paddles

I’m a convert too. Full day of paddling it’s makes a much bigger difference than I thought it would when I bought my first one. I use a GRB 6 degree solo. Zre straight in the stern for more control and GRB 12 degree in the bow for more power.

    Quality Fishing Knife

Bark River Mini Kalahari Sportsman. Best I have used. Just ordered another in case I ever lose the one I have or they go out of production.

Recommend a coffee maker? I'm done bearing a heavy thermos

Yes not cheap. I only buy them for backcountry trips. I get 2 good cups out of each packet though so 12 cups. $1.75 CAD per cup. Still not cheap but I’m worth it. :-)
