Packing up a tent: Rain fly packed separate from tent body?

Glenn’s great question about closing zippers or leaving them open reminded me of a tent packing question that I have had for some time now, should the tent fly be packed separate from the body of the tent. If the fly is wet from rain (or to a lesser extent dew or condensation), should it be...

Packing up a tent: Close zippers or leave them open?

I'm with the majority, close the zippers.

    Power Banks - 2026

I have a power station about the same physical size as a Jackery 300 (280Wh) that I use for my travel CPAP machine; it has enough charge for about 4 nights, as well as keeping a phone for GPS fully charged. The use of a power station of this size is a bit different than one big enough the keep...

Escaping from work to Little Tupper Lake and Rock Pond

Any escape from work is time well spent/wasted! Great report, really enjoyed reading it.

Skin-protective, fast-drying, warm weather paddling gloves

My wife loves NRS' Boater Gloves, the same ones that Gumpus suggested above. They do dry quite quickly https://www.nrs.com/nrs-mens-boaters-gloves/pu1s

    Mini Campers

My wife and I borrowed a Prolite Mini Eco from friends last summer and really liked, it suited us very well. The only downside is that the interior width is 74" and I found that I (72" ht) had to sleep on an angle. https://www.proliterv.com/rv-for-sale/mini-eco

    Camp Dutch Oven Cooking

I've always been impressed with what can be cooked in a Dutch oven, but have never taken one with me due to the weight. Instead, I have an Outback Oven. It too cooks a great pizza.

    "Door mat" for tent entrance

I have one of Coghlan's inside/outside mats, which works really well, placed right next to the door to the tent, under the fly. https://coghlans.com/products/inside-outside-tent-mat

The Spork, Do you use one?

Yeah, that's the thing that didn't make sense to me either, why do I want prongs on a spoon? Regarding the Tilley hat, I've had mine at least 30 years. I'm pretty sure it wasn't some sort of a fashion statement when I bought, I bought it to keep the sun off my head.

    Pillows

I too have the same Thermarest compressible pillow, love it. My wife uses the Fun Guy livery Thermarest compressible pillow, along with a Nemo Fillo pillow, fully inflated put under her sleep pad. The Fillo tilts up her pad, which helps her sleep, kind of simulates a wedge pillow, which she...

    Life jacket suggestions

Absolutely, comfort is the top priority. Astra pfds seem to get good reviews. I would have liked to have bought a Salus pfd due to being made in Canada, but their pfds just didn't feel comfortable on me. I ended up buying an NRS Odyssey because it was comfortable, nice size pockets, and...
