I apologize if this is a repeat, but was wondering if there was a way to change the label under our user name on the left side of the screen. I noticed that some members have the title "Tripper" or...

Is this a system thing based on post count? or is there a way to change this?

Thanks,
Momentum

Its a post count thing.. I think that the forum software has this built in and its not easy to get rid of. I don't think anyone here really wants it.. its just a nuisance doo dad but ignorable.

Thanks YC. I kinda thought it might be the software, but was hoping there was a way to override it. It would be neat to have us label ourselves. We could come up with some doosies. :)

I personally don't mind it. I just wanted to know what made it change from one thing to another. No worries here.

The labelling system makes no sense.. Just to pick out a thread.. look at the labels and post counts. Member, senior member, junior member, tripper.. None makes sense We have senior members who have posted less than junior members.
So I should change my answer to a non answer.. I have no idea..

For example and not to pick on anyone..just an example.. have a look

Go get a deer! If you have extra to share... I would be interested...! I am embarrassed by anything that leads to post counts as being meritorious. Mostly that means I talk too much and have little value per post. Often less is more.

I was feeling pretty good with the name tag- tripper. I hope this won't mean a demotion.
I honestly hadn't thought of a post count label thing. Seeing as how this is a forum, and a place of discussion, it makes sense that a label might best signify one's contribution in this way. Think of it as a blabber count. If that's the way it is, then I might be somewhere comfortably in the middle. Blabs a fair amount, and then finally (wisely) shuts up. But whatever the case, I never look at another person's label. Just their name and what they have to say. No judgement. Some folks just say "How's it goin, eh?", and others pack their post full of all kinds of information and experience. It's all valuable to me.
So in that sense, a post count label doesn't really matter to me.

I think I've just talked my way out of a promotion...and a prize. dang.

Doesn't bother me. When I was in my early 20's being referred to as a junior would have been insulting. I'm now to the age where it's a compliment.

Just a thought. You could use the signature feature to add a line at the bottom about your self. Here is one I used to use.

"Hi, I'm Dave,,, or maybe what's left of him."

I let John know about the issue and he is going to look into it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, I'd like to keep the feature so hopefully the fix isn't too complicated.
It's very helpful and very much appreciated when these issues are brought to my attention. Thanks Again.
