Building a Bob's Special Super video !

... the deck construction had me scratching my head a bit.
Me, too! I'm guessing he made them out of very thick stock so he could put a bit of an convex shape on top and then he hollowed out the bottom with a router to save weight? I think the piece on the end, which I thought was going to be proud of the deck as a little splash guard, ended up simply decorative and was there to try to carry that pinstripe detail on the inwhale continuously around the deck to the opposite gunnel? That didn't work for me. But otherwise an interesting video.

Anyone catch what he did to the sanding pad on the electric sander he was using on the inside? Was that some kind of homemade attachment?

Yes ! A homemade attachment, for a 1/4 sheet palm sander.

My first canoe was sanded with a similar sander. I used carpet foam, to build up the pad, to sand the inside chine. like that. It was a slow process, but no swirl marks. I may have to try and copy that one !

I'm impressed by the (surely) thousands of dollars of woodworking/machining equipment and thousands of hours of woodworking/machining experience this guy must have. Good video.
