Testing -

I tried replying to the Photo of the Day thread and never saw my response. I figured I try a new test thread to see if that works.

Hanz are you trying to upload from your computer?. I have not tried that. The photo I posted just now is from a link to Photobucket.

It would be wonderful to just upload from the computer which seems to be the reason for the camera icon..

No Title

I tried a post containing a link from flickr and didn't see the entire post. I tried it this AM and then later today.

The post just didn't seem to stick.

Good idea, YC - I'll try using the photo icon with a direct upload.

I might as well test it here.

This is a doe moving her twins from one island to another in Lake Kanawauke in Harriman State Park, NY. We assume she gave birth on the island to keep her offspring safe from coyotes. Or, maybe the cold swim induced labor is the simple and correct answer. Sorry for the squinty shot - I wasn't ready and didn't have the longer zoom on the camera.

OK, I can direct upload using the camera icon but I cannot embed a photo using flickr's BB code or html. I can use the flickr supplied link and link to the photo on flickr.

If I try to embed the photo using flickr's BB code the post will not post.

I prefer embedding photos because it allows the forum members to view the photos without clicking to enlarge them to a size with viewable detail.

OK, photobucket code works but flickr's BB code will not.

Too bad - I prefer the higher image quality that flickr provides.

For posting here, image quality for the viewer will vary based on their monitor settings or computer or device they are using. Personally I see nothing wrong with the Photobucket image above.

Thank you for reminding me of that. I agree that's true.

Part of my frustration is that I've stopped uploading images to photobucket and no longer pay for their premium service. My current photo processing workflow includes flickr as my sole online image host.

I hope this is something that will be remedied in time so I may continue to easily share photos hosted on flicker.

Just curious, does Flickr upload to any other site?
I have an account with Picasa Web and Photobucket. I can easily upload a picture from Photobucket, but not Picasa Web, although I believe MuratV can. This site has unlimited bandwidth, so large pictures are welcome, and encouraged, if anyone knows the secret to why Flikr or Picasa won't easily upload to this site, please share.
Thanks

Photobucket was a pain for me last year. It wanted me to buy more space. Instead of doing that I deleted old pix from my online albums.. Then PB decided I could have unlimited access for free.

Now I have 4000 images there and never paid a dime. And I have no idea if it was my stubborness or dumb luck. Not trying to change someones current workflow but if you persist PB could be free.

PB did the same thing to me. I got to 99% full and I was about to dump some pics when I got the message I had more space/

I can post photos that are hosted on flickr to bushcraftusa.com and ar15.com forums. I know bushcraftusa uses a version of vBulletin software, I believe ar15.com's forum software is homegrown.

One of my problems with photobucket is that if you are not paying you can run out of bandwidth to display the photos you are trying to share. I honestly would rather just stick with flickr.

I use Picasa and the photo icon in the advanced editor toolbar...no problems at all. I right click on my chosen Picasa photo to copy the location, then use the photo icon here to paste the URL...and remember to check the box that says "Retrieve remote file and reference locally".
Works every time!!
However, while I'm here, I'll mention my dislike of the google Chrome infiltration of Picasa...I don't need a Facebook substitute, in fact, I don't need Facebook.
But, Picasa is essentially limitless and free...

Limited as in, I have about 3600 pic on PB and I'm at 44% that gives me another 4800 pics tI can upload

Got your hello from the other site! Cheers;) I find that photobucket has been good for me. Maybe after a years worth of trip reports that may not be true anymore but for now its GTG.
