Here is a potential alternative retainer strap for anyone who uses a Trangia 25 or 27 alcohol stove system.
The stove system pictured is the smaller 27 in its packed mode.
This replaces the webbing and metal buckle strap.
Materials:
1/8” shock cord
2-YKK LN-Z key keeper snap hooks or plastic mitten hooks
Remove the inner swivel ball and loop
Remover the retainer catch with a side cutter
File the rough edge of the cut so that it is smooth
Thread the two hooks to the cord
Knot the cord ends or install a plastic cord end.
This seems to be just as secure and as light as the original strap.
It is definitely quicker to secure and to unstrap.
