That Saco river sounds to have seen a disproportionate number of drownings. Haunted? Maybe. Or just a tragic history. Scary and sad.
Speaking of river history, it's so deceiving to drive past a muddy little river like the one here I posted. It seems strange to imagine early settlers sledding along it in winter, or paddling it in summer long before a network of roads and bridges. So much human history can be lost and nearly forgotten.
