The best decked canoe?

Re: The best decked canoe?

Since you asked for my needs...I would have to pick the new 15' Canak or a Bell Rob Roy 15'. Either of these would work great for me since I only go day tripping and don't need a 17-18' long boat. I would like to get something with more protection in the rain and still have access behind me for tackle. I could always put a cover on my current canoe, but I hate to put snaps or velcro on it.

Re: The best decked canoe?

Well, I've paddled a Rob Roy, Kruger, and owned a Mad River Monarch. The Rob Roy is more like an open Kayak to me. Now the Kruger and Monarch...... They both paddle wonderfully and are tough as nails. I'd give the Kruger a slight edge. I'd still own one if not for a problem with numbness in one leg. Never tried the Superior, but the boat I've seen was well made. TW
