I did a three-day trip at the end of August 2025, starting from the public launch on the Harris River, up the South Branch of the Magnetawan to Trout Lake. From there, I made my way west through Island Lake and down the Thirty Dollar Rapids section to Miner Lake, and then I took the American Trail back to the South Branch.
Water levels were low, but I had the North Branch to myself. It was a wonderful three-day trip, one of the best short trips I've ever done. It was also my first solo outing after getting injured on the Steel River Loop, so it was great to "get back on the horse", so to speak.
The section of the Magnetawan reported here can be extended to a week-long trip beginning and ending at Wahwashkesh Lake.
