Longshot I know - but looking for creekin' locations in central Maryland that will not destroy my boat. I have paddled portions of the Gunpowder, Patapsco, Bush, and Patuxent Rivers in addition to Deer, Northeast, and Elk Creeks, but all of them on the piedmont are quite rocky and can do a number on a boat (not that this has or will stop me). Paddling the Pine Barrens last week plus frequent forays on the Pocomoke on the eastern shore has me wishing for something moderately similar on the western shore (sheltered, curvy, narrow, and relatively mild current without class 1+ rapids that could potentially allow for an up and back paddle after work). Many of the more common paddling locations (like the Monocacy) are bigger than what I would think of as a good creekin' stream, at least closer to the home anyway. Right now I am eyeing Bacon Ridge Branch, a tributary to South River, but cannot find an easy access point. In any case I would love to hear suggestions for paddling within 1.5 hours or so of Columbia, MD!
