Took Taylor (Swift Prospector 14) to the Beach

Try a 260 or 280 on open water. The low angle will keep you dry and increase stroke efficiency. Of course, a lot depends on the canoe’s hull design.

Took Taylor (Swift Prospector 14) to the Beach

I noticed much less stress on my shoulder when paddling single blade on the right side, drawing with my “good arm.” The left side was painful, too much stress. The double blade was less painful, allowed me to paddle into the wind. I did get pretty sore afterward, but everything does that...

Took Taylor (Swift Prospector 14) to the Beach

IS - I think you’re looking at the AB double. ZRE WW is 49-1/2”. It felt a tad short in the bigger boat.

Took Taylor (Swift Prospector 14) to the Beach

The 260cm double blade and the ZRE wilderness were perfect lengths. The double is only color coordinated with the canoe by accident…swear.

Detachable Yoke for Swift Carbon Gunnels

Thanks. That would be very helpful.

Detachable Yoke for Swift Carbon Gunnels

I would think the knob bolt length a particular thickness yoke will also be an issue. I do anticipate it being a metric size.

Detachable Yoke for Swift Carbon Gunnels

Thanks. I saw those. Need more comfort. I really would like to install the elevated pads like my NS yoke. Those hit my shoulders better and can be angled off the AC joint. Plus, a pack will clear the seat. Maybe Swift will respond to my inquiry. Probably not going to be a fast project.

Detachable Yoke for Swift Carbon Gunnels

My Canoe has some threaded metal holes for a proprietary screw on yoke. Doesn’t look like my clamp on yoke will work (and it’s 800 miles away). Swift doesn’t have their yoke available. Anyone know a substitute yoke that might work with these gunnels? I could make one if I knew he thread size...

Took Taylor (Swift Prospector 14) to the Beach

First time paddling my Swifty P14. Took her to a lake as I didn’t know how my shoulder would respond, and a 3 hour river run seems risky. Despite some wind and no footbrace, I was able to play around. She did fine without any ballast. I’ll keep a jug onboard but moving my pack around seemed...

    Swapped My River Banger

I do anticipate needing skid plates by fall.

    Swapped My River Banger

This deal has been in the works for months. My hope is the Exped Kevlar will hold up at least as well as the Blue Steel. The river level can play havoc with hulls. The improved maneuverability should aid in hull preservation.

    Swapped My River Banger

Here’s a better view of the thwart placement. I can totally recline. Northstar should take note.

    Swapped My River Banger

Got her loaded myself. 20# is considerable savings. I’m a Swiftie!

    Swapped My River Banger

No. They put some forethought into this design.

    Swapped My River Banger

Might put a foot brace in her. Think that dynex will stick to this in the event I doze off and pinball through a rock garden again.

    Swapped My River Banger

Not sure I made a good deal but I just swapped my NC Prospector 15 for a Swift Prospector 14. I’m hoping the expedition Kevlar will hold up to the Totogatic. I shed 20 lbs of weight for a much more maneuverable package. Not sure if it’s stable enough for my dog. Now I want to go for a paddle.

    Paddlefest 2024

Dang, I’d love to attend, but wife barred me from travel to NY since my HS sweetheart lives there.

    A perfect paddling day - I didn’t go

It was gorgeous here in NW Wisconsin yesterday. The Totogatic is high, little wind. I moved my NC P15 out and fitted her with my seat, gathered all my padding paraphernalia. Then it occurred to me that I’ve paddling exactly once with my post surgical shoulder, and that was for 1.5 hours on...
