Out with the Mattawa... All wood removed, zero rot on the ends as it was always stored indoors, wood finished with Epifanes Varnish as it should be. The experience it has had on the bottom will not clean up so it stays. It has travelled hundreds of kilometres in Manitoba and NW Ontario... Next...

Been a bit. The Kite has been glassed in and out but now moved to the other building so we can get some work done on other boats. My Swift Mattawa is getting spiffied up to go on sale next week. I have pulled most of the wood out and there is no rot anywhere, the boat was always stored indoors...

Had snow on Sunday and Wednesday and combined gave more snow than the entire rest of Winter. It was windy both storms so difficult to say but I think we got about 6" on Wednesday and have a foot on the ground. We needed some, the bush is going to be dry this year if we don't get Spring rains...

If certain circumstances change in the future I will give up FB too.

How the boat is in the cradles is temporary, we had to disassemble and remove the strongback and make some space.

The Kite is free!!! The procedure went so well I slowed the timelapse down to 1/4 speed.

I stopped after 2 hours. Christine finished the knuckle on the other side and brushed out runs and sags. This is the first stripper we have built since my Jack's Special in 2017 so we had some remembering to do. :)

Resin seal coat going on. The wood is extremely dry. Manitoba cedar has beautiful colouring. Outer stems are of her own design and reasoning. Don't ask. :)

Marshall is the one trip I would like to do again, but longer and a side trip up to Faubert just for the fishing. Almost never ending pickerel and plenty of Northern Pike as well. It was our only ever group trip.

And we need snow to cut down the fire risk next Summer. Bad enough this year. We here in Warren have a couple inches at best and none in the forecast a week out.

Normal for here would be highs of -12C and lows of -22C. It was in the plusses last week and the next 3 days the high will be -2C. Next to no snow but the folks are out on the lakes fishing. Not sure I would trust Lake Winnipeg yet but they are driving on it.

The few times I went by the Ocoee in the late 80's it was dry. It was seen going from I-75 across to Murphy NC during a trip to the Great Smoky Mountain Trek, 4 wheeling in the Smokies. The only rafting I have done was on the Ottawa in the mid 80's.

Definitely sounds like user error in that instance. I'm sure someone could overtighten a truckers hitch system as well as I use that for the bow lashing ropes and it is fairly easy to really pull those overly tight. I also have blocks that gunwales rest against so if I were to overtighten the...
