Video: McLennan Lake Canoe Area Small Circle Route

Here's is my late summer video from 2022. It's a loop canoe route in a place I'd never been before. Heavy focus on the second day and a bit of the third. The first day I paddled from the put in at around 5pm to, and past, one portage and one carryover to the campsite you see at the start. This...

    Why Are You Here?

How did you find or stumble upon Canoe Tripping? A simple web search for a place where canoeists coexist trying to avoid facebook. Started an FB acount in 2007 and barely used it as it didn't seem useful or at least didn't serve a purpose for me. When I started looking for canoeing discussion...

Video: Creekside (kind of a cooking demo)

@Glenn MacGrady You're too kind. Also, this site sends a lot of traffic to my videos, so I'm being a little selfish when stopping by. I really appreciate all the nice comments I get from the people here. @Robin Likewise. You're wanigan video is always in the back of my mind. @lowangle al...

Video: Creekside (kind of a cooking demo)

@Alasgun Thanks for the high rating. @Robin You'll have to tell me how this made you ponder your gear situation. That's a surprising effect I couldn't imagine when editing. Thanks! @Gerald That means it's people like you that I make them for. Thanks for watching! @ppine I forgot my hat that...

Video: Creekside (kind of a cooking demo)

Here's my fall video involving breakfast and canoeing. It's short, and includes canoeing as usual, along with starting a small camp fire, cooking some eggs (over hard; how I like 'em) and cleanup after. A nice wildlife spotting at the end as seen on the video cover. Please enjoy.

    Video: Somewhere in a Canoe

@Jim Dodd Thanks! This place is actually right near the US Border, and is home to several prairie dog colonies; I somehow didn't end up near any where I camped. I was surprised too. @Canoe Down Under Thanks! If you have any questions or want recommendations of my catalogue, based on a...

    Video: Somewhere in a Canoe

I forgot to post this spring video here... Takes place in Grasslands National Park in Saskatchewan, Canada. This place has a draw that is hard to describe. It's like stepping back in time or something.

    Video: Waiting on the Wind

I am in that shot. Thanks for watching! I have another one ready to release. If you go to the community tab on my YouTube channel page, you can participate in a simple two option poll that will decide a detail of its release.

DIY Duluth #4 Traditional style portage pack.

Nice work! Looks very durable. The camp kitchen pack is really cool looking; has anyone used that pack? is it a good design? I also made my own packs with canvas and nylon thread. Duluth Pack and Frost River both have a video on YouTube of how they make a model of their lineup. I used them as...

    Video: Waiting on the Wind

Wow, I got a lot of traffic from this site on this video. Thanks to everyone that checked it out. You also stayed watching the longest on average by a very healthy amount. I usually post here, a place with 2 C's in its name, and on Instagram and no one came close. @Ralph Here I'm just wearing...

    Video: Waiting on the Wind

@Ralph Did you stop on that island and was that barrel there? Thanks for watching!

This one is a little different. Mostly the same though... You'll see.

Early Morning Birding on the Toronto Islands.

Nice post! Thanks for naming them. There are a couple I don't see out here.

One more reason to bring a spare paddle.

I only ever decided to take a single paddle once in my adult life. On that morning, I pushed off a shore with the paddle and the depths below grabbed onto it. With the momentum of the push it slid out of my hands jammed in rocks. Thoughts ran through my head in that moment... Oh no! Figures! The...

    Video: Silver Lining

@PaddlingPitt Thanks. They can make good sleep aids too. @Sweetfancymoses Hard wearing no doubt. brush is nothing to them, and barbed wire hardly either. now, if I could keep them dry they'd be really useful. @Robin Commenting here and on YouTube is beyond kind. Thanks as always! @Gerald...

    Video: Silver Lining

Just some peaceful morning scenery. This time I use a camp's canoe. Filmed on Jan Lake in Saskatchewan over 2 mornings in September.

    Video: Last Days

PaddlingPitt Thanks! The hat is a Bailey Panhandle. It has been reshaped a few times after several soakings. It was new in my Grasslands video; bought it and straightened the shape-able brim (wire).

    Video: Last Days

Jim Dodd Anytime, thanks! DaveO That quiet is definitely part of the attraction to canoeing. An echoing lone raven call is always a nice reminder that other creatures (like to?) spend their time alone out there too. Odyssey Well, extra thanks to you for being a regular customer! I love old...

    Video: Last Days

It's getting cold. This was probably the last chance I had this year. It was filmed last weekend; yesterday the lake I went to was frozen. This one is a day trip out to an island starting on a windy morning. No music this time, just the wind and the waves.

RickR Thanks. Are there bridges out of use like that in Vermont?
