If there isn't a canoe trip...

I don't have any experience with canoe sailing myself - but I'm in very good company with my friend, who has a lot of experience and with whom I'll be going on my first sailing trip. . . Yes, I'm really looking forward to seeing how it goes.

There's nothing special to say about it... It's originally a sail made by the german company “Klepper,” and it was originally intended for a folding boat. I was able to buy the sail very cheaply on eBay—and I think it'll be more than enough for my boat. Here are two sample pictures .

Leeboard ... . . . . finished. Now I just need to paint it, align the clamps, and secure them. I'm very happy with it. And everything worked out with the leeboard, too. It fits! Wow, that's awesome. . . . . . . . . .

A quick update on the leeboard.. Today, with a mix of nervousness and a lot of sweat, I drilled the holes in the support boards and in the leeboard. I set the washers into the leeboard and glued them in place. . . . . ;) It's slowly starting to come together

If there isn't a canoe trip...

Leeboard ... . . . . . . . It’s just a shame that I mixed up the front edge and the back edge when I was thinning it out. So I had to sacrifice the nice point. Oh well, that’s just how it goes with freehand work. . . . . . I think the leeboard looks pretty good despite...

If there isn't a canoe trip...

Oh, that's solid ash wood. The mast will be secured in the hole with a pin. So it's already very sturdy. With this design, the size of the bonding surface is probably the weakest point. But I'm very confident that it will hold. ;)

If there isn't a canoe trip...

My idea for the mast base was to take a rectangular piece of wood and glue it in place. It will have a hole in the center to accommodate the end of the mast. It will taper outward from the center so that the outer edges don’t stick up too much. It will be wide enough to provide sufficient...

If there isn't a canoe trip...

Once I'm done with the mast base, I'll move on to the centerboard. Then I'll work on the leeboard. I think I'll just build one to see if that's enough...
