I just picked up my senior lifetime hunting license yesterday, was not even aware I was available to receive it. Getting up there. The older I get the more I think about the hereafter .... every room I go into I wonder what the hell am I here after?

While up in Maine last week I came across two well traveled fellows who were cooking on a fire box as illustrated in Mason's "Song of the Paddle". They had two sizes and said they were still available & swore by them, but I cannot find the source online . Anyone have a lead on these ?

A dog at best is perimeter security , an alarm system . I think dogs realized humans vie for top predator thus became our friends. Thus that happy alliance works more for them than for us .

I think Canotrouge is right on , a porcupine is your best bet.Other small game would occupy an enormous amount of time without a weapon or brass wire for snares plus have very little caloric value (fat). Fish also without some carbohyrdate . Hunting / gathering would consume all your waking...

While I'm a dyed in the wool W/C lover , I have to say Eidolon canoe is stunning. Those cherry gunnels are beautiful & I'm sure technically challenging as cherry can often be difficult .

Al , bought a license, rod & tackle to the campsite , but left it onshore during our day trip, I have a good memory , its just not very long .
