    Making Kydex Deck Plates

I suspect it will score and snap just fine with one of these.... https://www.lowes.com/pd/Cutter-1-in-T-x-4-in-W-x-6-in-L-Silver-Plastic-Sheet/1001463532 They have been around for decades for cutting laminates, polycarbonate sheet etc. Kydex is available in a dizzying aray of colors, patterns...

    Canoe Tripping Fundraiser & Raffle

Perhaps it would be best to let the winner choose. A Cabela's card can be used at Bass Pro. I have shopped at Bass Pro but never at LL Bean..... Best regards to all, Lance

    Seller’s Market for Used Canoes

Hey!! There's a Lincoln fiberglass canoe with some neat custom wrinkles in it for sale on craigslist in Danville, Virginia as a package deal with a plastic canoe(ish) thing that has a neat-o internal aluminum frame running down the floor and really nice wavy hull for a mere $1200!!! I have the...

    Seller’s Market for Used Canoes

Here in northwest North Carolina this is about the time I would normally expect a surge of canoes to be popping up on craigslist (based on my short three Springs of experience) so maybe things will change but..... Pickings have been slim indeed with the notable exception of a really nice...

    Canoe Tripping Fundraiser & Raffle

Glenn, I like that idea personally but also recognize, as you did, that it entails more time and effort on someone's part to herd the Canoe Tripping cats through such a process. I suppose one could ask each entrant to subscribe to a "drawing thread" or do it as a part of this thread then...

    Solo canoe seat question

On an asymmetrical boat the center point of the wetted area is behind the center of the boat as determined by length so the seat has to be behind the mid length point or you'll be bow down. To add to what has already been said your center of gravity is ahead of the seat to some degree no matter...

    Canoe Tripping Fundraiser & Raffle

Thanks, Bob They are still kind of a work in progress. I've only made a few of them and each one has had some tweak or modification. About the time I think I have something like that pretty nailed down either another idea surfaces in what passes for my brain or another interest distracts...

    Canoe Tripping Fundraiser & Raffle

Well, as I get a lot of enjoyment from the site and the folks here I guess I can get off my duff long enough to make someone a reflector oven. This one is 15" wide, 8-38" deep and 12" high. It will hold up to a 1/4 size sheet pan (half the size of a home oven sheet pan) and the stainless...

Why you shouldn't paddle a kayak....

They're on the rack next to the other winter kilts. Come to think of it, a wool kayak might go well with my sons and nephews in their kilts at the next reunion....if the kayak is in the correct clan tartan. I can see it now "Gee Uncle Lance, what are you wearing under your kayak?" I can't...

Why you shouldn't paddle a kayak....

Gee, Dan Was that the Kayak expedition mother ship?? See what happens when you kayak?! Actually, Nancy and I were primarily kayakers until a year and a half ago. I just felt like stirring the pot a bit.... Seeing that picture with the slope in the background makes me wonder if the 23...

    DIY No-Sewing Spray Covers

Thanks, Mike for the update. I could lend you a framing nail gun to tack the Dual Lock back on. I'm thinking that 2-3/8" hot galvanized ring shank nails will do the trick.... Or not..... Lance

    Any new "Toys" for Christmas?

None of it exactly directly canoe related....or at least not yet. We got a new grandson who was born to my youngest son and his wife last night (January 2). We have a son with January 2 as his birthday as does one of Nancy's brothers. The newborn is their second to go with their daughter and...

Found another option for a fry pan

That pan has a good reputation among the bushcraft community. I know Coleman's had the 10" one in the past. I don't know if I've seen a 12" one before. Mike, the frame on these has a built in cargo shelf on the bottom and it secures a barrel well, especially a barrel with side handles...

Unusual source for a new 60L blue barrel

And will the after action report be up to the Mike M standard? It's unlikely that any of mine ever will be as I suck at stopping during projects for either pictures or notes. Lance
