Does flatwater need classifications similar to whitewater?

Yeah we paddled the Teton. Winds so strong it harvested the taters.

Does flatwater need classifications similar to whitewater?

The snake in Idaho can be fickle. How about 1a, 1b, 1c? With weather/hazard criteria identified for each?

    Mini Campers

My carport had been wrestled from the domain of arians. I cut, raised the header tube and moved the canoe rack, so plenty of room for my trailer. I went ahead and removed the side trim. Wish I had done this a decade ago. Carrying a canoe in and out was always a pain. Powerwashed a ton of...

    Your Favorite Streamside/Lakeside Campsite

Im trying to remember my wife and my favorite campsites. The one that stands out is a state campground in the UP of Michigan on the Manistique River, south of Germfask, the Seney Wildlife Sanctuary is on the opposite shore. Local outfitter was happy to shuttle. Don’t know if that still...

I also cannot upgrade to the screened doors economically. Any good hacks to screening something to get some airflow?

    Mini Campers

I decided to forego the heat and a/c. It can be added later. The most expensive non-operating addons. The modular nature of the build, as well as the factory direct business model, keep prices low compared to other lightweight teardrop brands. Also a less corporate feel to the experience.

    Mini Campers

I’m hoping to have room for a canoe on top after the vent and ac are installed. My water jug spicket is broken. Gotta find another.

    Mini Campers

Well, I think I got It right. Just bought this for our 35th Anniversary. We’re adding AC, 100w solar power, among customizations. Now we just need to figure out the cat situation. Local volunteers? Bogan and I will pick up the finished unit in a week or so. This Hiker Trailer is built with...

    Mod Bug Trailers

It’s been a frustrating search for trailers. I’ve decided to look at the crawl in models to avoid the need for a new carport. I eliminated the bird nest issue by taking off the end trim and the front gable siding. I’m also moving the front cross support up to increase the clearance to 7’2”...

    Mini Campers

The one both me and the wife like best is the 360 model, which is crazy expensive new. I’m checking used models, which are rare. Can’t believe the prices. I did check out some fiberglass models - Casita is in Texas with no dealerships. They seem to build to order. There are a couple others...

The first canoe you ever PADDLED and the circumstances

Long before I paddled a canoe, I tried building various rafts from logs and boards. Not very successful, but it was fun.

    Mini Campers

We like this TAB 320 Lite. This is the smallest TAB model. Built by Amish in Ohio. We went to Mark Wahlberg's (yes, the actor) Airstream RV dealership south of Columbus. They have nothing but Airstreams and NuCamp teardrops. We looked at all the models, including the TAGs (crawl in sleeper...

    River Coffee

I like to collect river oriented merch. Coffee mugs are my favorite. Here are my Rhine River and Ohio River mugs. If you’ve got tacky or cool river merch I’d like to see it.

    Mini Campers

Really, the peripherals of these things are the weakest parts. I don’t need no shower, but wife does. Blackwater sucks to deal with and a big jug works for me in lieu of a faucet. I may have to make concessions to plumbing appliances and their maintenance.😕

    Mini Campers

We had this piece of junk for 10 years. Ontario forest roads and all. Made to look tough but wasn’t. We busted everything! It was also a pain to set up, especially in the rain for a few hours on the road. I’m looking for a bit more comfort to sleep, set up my Coleman stove, set up a tarp...

    Mini Campers

Wife and I are considering a small camper trailer. We looked at several, and most are poorly made and priced like cars. We found a couple used NuCsmp TABs/TAGs online, which seem to be well made, but also seem too small for two people. We’re driving to Columbus to look at new NuCamp trailers...

    Ramp for Car Topping

The step stool arrived and is just what the ER doctor ordered! Wide steps are much easier than the narrow ladder rungs, without the shin bone killer. About like stepping up on a rock when portaging, but not as slippery or slanted. If I were to build one for canoeists, I’d make the step boards...

    Ramp for Car Topping

70” bars on my Explorer. The problem is the boat is 35” wide, and the carriers are near the end, so I have to lift it about 3” over the carriers to get the gunnels on the crossbars. The antenna prevents me from moving the carriers farther over. Yes, I can slide it on the crossbars from the...

    Ramp for Car Topping

I picked this up on Amazon. Wide steps. Feels like the step ladder is an ER visit waiting to happen. Also looking at a lighter P14 solo in Tformex. Sucks getting old.

Thoughts on an Esquif Heron 15

I heard there is tformex lite now. If I find a P15 in that I might need to talk to the wife.
