I have a Trillium pac in Blacklight and it is very stable and maneuverable. It weighs in at 27 lbs. and is easily portaged with a yoke, whereas the Rapidfire needs to be modified to use a portage yoke. The Trillium is DY’s 6th and recent rendition of the Fire series. Great canoe.

On my Subaru Outback, the factory rack is terrible for hauling canoes. I had to find a foot that allowed me to use my Thule square bars and the INNO feet did that but angled the bars. The rack carries the boats just fine.

Robbie Frenette from Raquette River Outfitters showed my wife an easy way to get the boat on her shoulders. One of the problems with the fabric yokes is that they lay on your neck and your head is up inside the boat. The nice thing about the yokes that yknpdlr and I use is that the weight is carried on our shoulders and your head isn’t up inside the boat. Easy on easy off.

Now in my mid 70’s we started using portage yokes. My Northstar Trillium is easy but my wife’s Placidboat Oseetah was a challenge until I came up with this solution.

Only good thing about the cold is it may reduce the tick population.

I have Petzl headlamps and only used them when getting caught out late while hiking but now I use them a lot around the house, working on the car, going up in the attic, etc.

My understanding is that if the tick is not discovered quickly, removed properly and treated with Doxycycline the Lyme will be with one forever. It can then rear its ugly symptoms later in life. My sister and her husband in their late 70’s both caught Lyme from their two dogs that they let lay...

We used Canoe Country Outfitters in Ely, MN, nice people.

We didn’t get out much at all this year, the high daytime temperatures, two trips abroad and life just didn’t allow us much time to paddle.
